VZ-58s and more...FAQs are Post 1

Q: Considering this monster thread, what do you think of the VZ-58 type rifle?

  • It is a beauty as it comes, and a must have, since it drives Libs bonkers.

  • It is best pimped out and dressed up, a far cry from an NDP convention.

  • It is true it was the first cool gun in the Cdn. market for a long while, but I'll pass.

  • It makes me think of snide remarks, as I am a gun snob and the 58 is affordable.

was browsing CGN forums while the tv was goin and i saw a vz58 on a movie, it was awesome... i think it was called behind enemy lines... def made my day :D

Behind enemy lines, great VZ flick. My wife accused me of renting it just so I could see the VZs!:D

BTW, is it legal to take the folding stock off, and use it like that, since it's practically the same as having it folded, or is that illegal because that will automatically turn you into a homicidal maniac?

Now this I like!

Breach of Etiquette

Although I joined back in August, it wasn't until yesterday that I actually started posting. I was so happy to have found the end-all, be-all Vz58 thread that I forgot my manners and did not introduce myself.

:(

I am USA based, Massachusetts actually, a lifelong shooter, and fan of black, green, & wooden furnitured rifles. I've been looking at the Ohio Ordnance Works VZ2000 for sometime. By all accounts of those who have them, their receiver is beautifully made. The price of it however has kept it safely out of reach.

Thought about the receiver only and a $50 kit and may still do that too but it is certainly the long way around. I'd also have to make it Massachusetts compliant as we've never let the Assault Weapons "Ban" sunset here in our infinite wisdom because black, or blue/gray in this case, rifles are the favorite of drug gangs & warlords.

Century out of Vermont was importing a 10 rd. thumbhole (bunghole) stock version for ~$1000. You know the one, most of you really like the way it looks!

:p

These use a newly made receiver that allow only a special 10 rd. magazine and unique semiauto FCG to be fitted. For reasons unknown, Century stopped carrying this weapon and the supply dried up again. Until a few weeks ago.

:dancingbanana:

Another company in the States started bringing them in from Slovakia and they are now $650! Finally a price that the minority share of Scottish blood in me could deal with so I ordered one. The dealer I ordered it from let me know it arrived yesterday so I will get it later today. Of course, it is raining and my 100 yd. range will be a mucking mess.

:(

So that's my story. Glad to have found such a knowledgeable and enthusiastic group on this rifle. And, thanks to everyone that has already answered questions for me on it.

Well Canada would get a Brady A+ rating, but Boston approaches the spirit of Lib-Occupied Canuckastan. :runaway:

Someone needs to make 58 pistols for you. :dancingbanana:

Someones needs to cut the barrel a half inch before the gas block, weld the sight to the gasblock and put a krink brake on it. That would be excellent.
