VZ-58s and more...FAQs are Post 1

Q: Considering this monster thread, what do you think of the VZ-58 type rifle?

  • It is a beauty as it comes, and a must have, since it drives Libs bonkers.

    Votes: 1,507 70.4%
  • It is best pimped out and dressed up, a far cry from an NDP convention.

    Votes: 407 19.0%
  • It is true it was the first cool gun in the Cdn. market for a long while, but I'll pass.

    Votes: 166 7.7%
  • It makes me think of snide remarks, as I am a gun snob and the 58 is affordable.

Anyone know how to get the lower front handguard holder off? Do I have to take off the gas block and front sight? Do you gotta pound them off or do they come off easy after pounding out the pins? Are they taper pins? Do they pound out easier one way?

I am looking at adding a Kobra red dot on my CZ but I am tossed between that and the OKO. The Kobra weighs about 355 grams vs the oko which is 80 grams But I am not sure if the oko can be mounted on a weaver rail with the protective cover which is recommended. anyone have an OK0 on their
VZ?

Since this is, to my knowledge, the 2000 th post in this thread, I'll use it to ask the obvious question. Why is this thread not stickied?????

Sounds like me, audacious AND impudent. Ah yes, here it is, the three hundred and thirty-third commandment "Thou shalt not offend a SIG snob, for they spendeth more than you" . Seems reasonable.
Seriously though, I think it has more value as a running joke.

I think we are all "SIG wannabee's" and the ugly head of envy raises it's head from time to time.

SIG's fame much exceeds its quality.
I have owned few SIGs (some of those models will never going to make it in Canada in civilian hands) and I won't buy again.
I've never seen, handled or shoot one which I would choose in the first 10 guns in it's class.
Read the everyday-shooters' reviews on numerous gun forums or use one (for more than one mag) and see for yourself.
