VZ-58s and more...FAQs are Post 1

Q: Considering this monster thread, what do you think of the VZ-58 type rifle?

  • It is a beauty as it comes, and a must have, since it drives Libs bonkers.

  • It is best pimped out and dressed up, a far cry from an NDP convention.

  • It is true it was the first cool gun in the Cdn. market for a long while, but I'll pass.

  • It makes me think of snide remarks, as I am a gun snob and the 58 is affordable.

Any ETA on these bad boys?

i have an sks, honestly i dont like spending 1-2 hours taking my gun completly apart after shooting it....for some its no big deal, i just find it a little bit of a hassle.

No need to. I boil up some water in the kettle, squirt a little dishwashing detergent down the bore and pour, then a few patches with Windex, then oil - the gas system is really simple to clean...no rust particles anyplace after about two years.

Why is everyone so paranoid about corrosive ammo? Just give the gun a good cleaning after you shoot...

I shot 300 rds through it, 2-3 days later I went to clean it and ALL I saw was a little bit of rust on my muzzle brake and the muzzle threads. I was using CZ M43 ball ammo..

Even after this....

There was no rust yet, I figured cold and wet, it would have rusted much faster, but some oil once I was done, Let it dry over night.

Nothing.....

Sorry to interupt the technical discussions over here,
but it has been brought to my attention
(and intel photos have confirmed it)
that a member of this thread - I won't say who, you guys already know it!
is wandering in various malls
posing as a kid who wants to take a picture with Santa.
When in the proximity of Santa, he grabs the bag of gifts
and after he quickly shuffles thru it,
he looks very disapointed in Santa's eyes and screams in his face
things like "Yo, wherz da bullpupz at? huh?".
Be aware of this member.

I just read this entire thread in one sitting. My head feels like it is going to explode. A big thanks to everyone who posted pix, information, and links.

I also read the entire thread and every post on this rifle that I could find. (I need a life :D ).

One thiing that hasn't been answered. I imagine that the CZ-858 would be more accurate than the VZ-58L. Since non crome lined barrels tend to be more accurate than crome lined. I know this isn't a super accurate firearm, however I am interested in the differences.

Does anyone have range reports? Pictures etc? I've read a few people say that they are more accurate than they thought. Lets find out how accurate each model is. :)
