VZ-58s and more...FAQs are Post 1

Q: Considering this monster thread, what do you think of the VZ-58 type rifle?

  • It is a beauty as it comes, and a must have, since it drives Libs bonkers.

  • It is best pimped out and dressed up, a far cry from an NDP convention.

  • It is true it was the first cool gun in the Cdn. market for a long while, but I'll pass.

  • It makes me think of snide remarks, as I am a gun snob and the 58 is affordable.

Anyone have an idea what the wood furniture for these rifles is finished with (the real wood not the sawdust/resin)? Looks like a varnish to me but wanted to double check. I wanted to give it a good cleaning and use linseed oil but have no idea if that will work or what to use to clean it with.

Let me know what you think.

I love your page , I was about seconds away from smashing my stock to bits out of frustration from trying to get the thing off , I already broke one screwdriver , thanks to you , I now know how to get it off , well that to use haha! Thanks!

Guys,
I am looking for a Vz bipod to use to reproduce them here in the US. I will need to completely take it apart to get all the different measurements, so I would rather buy one outright than borrow one. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have a borrowed on now to get external measurements thanks to Obiwanbonjovi.

I work with Curtis at Ak-Builder.com. He has a CNC shop and is always looking for products to make and sell. I have over 2000 posts at Gunco.net and a verified vendor at both Gunco.net and Akforum.net. I have been involved in the US with the Vz.58 project. I have several approval letters from the BATFE on 922r compliant parts for the Vz.58. I worked extensively with Rich Thompson on producing my parts which were sold at Weaponeer.net through his company. Here is a pic of my Vz with a set of US laminated wood and my permanently attached US muzzle brake.
