VZ-58s and more...FAQs are Post 1

Q: Considering this monster thread, what do you think of the VZ-58 type rifle?

  • It is a beauty as it comes, and a must have, since it drives Libs bonkers.

  • It is best pimped out and dressed up, a far cry from an NDP convention.

    Votes: 407 19.0%
  • It is true it was the first cool gun in the Cdn. market for a long while, but I'll pass.

  • It makes me think of snide remarks, as I am a gun snob and the 58 is affordable.

Yeah marstar brought in the czh2003, fsn01k. Wolverine brought in the cz858-2 &-4v. Wolverine brought in the CSA, and now north Sylvia brings them in.

Lots of options for you! Bring some in for 300$ each and I'll buy one or two.

They did import AKs for $400. Just saying. I am okay with $600. A grand is pushing it.

I believe I'm inclined to agree with you... I've always been one to support home manufacturers first and the Canadian firearms community in general, even at a premium.

However as a consumer there comes a point, which with the CSA/CA line has recently soundly passed, at which you stop feel pride in supporting the home industry and start feeling gouged.

That said the law of capitalism; supply and demand always prevails. As long a people are prepared to pay inflated pricing the suppliers have no reason to halt or lower thier pricing. If they sell everything on thier shelves, which I'm confident that they will, there's no reason not to expect an even deeper and firmer rodgering on future shipments. Just thank them sincerely for bringing them in with a enthusiastic 'yes mistress, may I have another:D'

I'll get right on that. In the mean time.
Why so defensive?
Sound like your defending them. I think you know more than your telling. Or are you some how connected via purse strings. HMMM.

I'm just asking for a "fair" price is that too much to ask for. I guess it is.

Lol. I want you to bring em in for that price. I hope you succeed, because we will all benefit. I just don't see the point of whining about the price. If its too much for you don't buy it. Simple.

In all seriousness, if anyone brings them in at a low price, I will definitely buy from them.

Went over the faqs and saw nothing about this. I just got 2 CSA VZ58 Carbines and I seem to have a striker variation. Any info about the variation and why it exists would be much appreciated.

The left one is all silver, and the right one is silver with darker metal in the grooves and on the strike face

The darker one has a hole into the body of the striker, the silver one is just notched.

The mouth where the spring enters on the darker one is much bigger than the silver one.

On the darker one, the rail guide is notched at an angle and the silver one is not. Look at the tabs furthest away on the right hand side of the strikers.

My guess is that the silver one is newer production possibly made from stainless. Put a magnet to them and see if they both stick.

Red/black one was ment for the military rifle hence it needs sloppier tolerances to take up all the bs and auto firing when needed.
The silver one is new manufactoring and also semi-auto and made to tighter tolerances. Both will work just fine.
