VZ-58s and more...FAQs are Post 1

Q: Considering this monster thread, what do you think of the VZ-58 type rifle?

  • It is a beauty as it comes, and a must have, since it drives Libs bonkers.

    Votes: 1,507 70.4%
  • It is best pimped out and dressed up, a far cry from an NDP convention.

    Votes: 407 19.0%
  • It is true it was the first cool gun in the Cdn. market for a long while, but I'll pass.

    Votes: 166 7.7%
  • It makes me think of snide remarks, as I am a gun snob and the 58 is affordable.

My VZ58

Photo of my VZ 58. Pretty nice rifle, and great fun to shoot. It uses an AK47 pistol grip because I really didn't like the small original grip. I installed a B&T rail, and a modified A1 flash hider.

I've been wondering... how long is that rifle with the stock folded?

do you have to make modification to the AK grip in order to fit? or it is just a drop-in?

I thought it was just me but after getting together with a few other NUTZ'S with 58's we all had the same problem with picking up the front sight especially when the sun is in your face. Who else has this problem and if so have you found a cure for this???

I bought a Bulgarian AK grip thinking it was going to drop in but it's a centimetre or so too long for the stock vz screw.

B&T rail is from Wolverine. It is very well made, and locks up solid on the rifle.

I used an AK47 grip screw as well. It is the same thread pitch as the VZ58, but longer so it works properly.

I just accidentially saw a thread mentioning Dlask made an adapter to fit the AK under folder to a VZ??? anyone knows how much does the adapter cost?

So, it seems like AK grip is A-OK for the VZ, but how about the AK handguard? can it be easily fitted? has anyone tried?

do, tell.. I was under the impression you can fit them if you have the proper locking nut.

Ok, now.. I have seen a few with SAW grips..

are you talking about forehand handguards or grips.....AK grips should fit or can be made to fit with minor modification but AK handguards?? give it a whirl .....

In US the Dlask under-folder stock to fit the VZ was 125 $US (or so) retail.

CZ858-2 Tactical

I'm thinking about picking up one of those, but search turned up too much results, so I'll risk ridicules of CGNers and post.
What are reported problems I might be facing with CZ858-2 Tactical? Is there typical areas of concerns everyone experience? Are they correctable from beginning?
If I do pick one up, I would like to deal with these things pronto, if it is possible. Thanks for the infos.
