VZ-58s and more...FAQs are Post 1

Q: Considering this monster thread, what do you think of the VZ-58 type rifle?

  • It is a beauty as it comes, and a must have, since it drives Libs bonkers.

  • It is best pimped out and dressed up, a far cry from an NDP convention.

    Votes: 407 19.0%
  • It is true it was the first cool gun in the Cdn. market for a long while, but I'll pass.

    Votes: 166 7.7%
  • It makes me think of snide remarks, as I am a gun snob and the 58 is affordable.

Regarding the barrel thread, I heard that ONLY SOME of the barrels from the 58's in Canada are threaded.

This is interesting, are there both threaded and pinned types out there? My cz-858 appears to be the pinned type, can anyone confirm a threaded barrel?

I am just thinking that eventually someone is going to have to start doing some non-aesthetic modifications. a 6.5x39 would be a good start.

If you leave your rilfe in a case for a couple hours before you take it out aftercoming in from the cold it wont frost up and sweat!

Funky. So what would the equipment wearing be wearing if they were using an extended ear system? Would it be the aforementioned radio-style helmet, except with an extended ear in the helmet? Or is it something radically different that is going to drive me up the wall and force me to get on a plane and go to the Ukraine just to find out what the hell they put inside their helmets?! Pheew.
