VZ58: Optics, sights & mounts. update sept

Another newbie post from a silly American here guys :)

I was wondering if anyone has any pics of their VZ58 with the NEA upper rail with an EoTech mounted. Or for that matter, pics of a Trijicon Tri-Power mounted on an NEA rail.

Also, for those of you that have a full sized aimpoint mounted on an NEA rail, does it allow for any Co-Witnessing?

Thanks guys for any info you can give!

Found this on a google search.

For Co-witnessing the only two optics I know will do it are the Aimpoint Micro and the Bushnell trs-25 on the NEA upper rail

Anybody have an Eotech 512 on a NEA upper hand guard?
I'm having some trouble with mine, doesn't fit there's not enough rail space.
What kind of adapter or riser mount do I need?
Will the LaRue LT 110 or the ADM eotechs mount fit?

Thanks

Just wanted to show my setup. I dont think ive seen more than one like it, if any at all.
I got the parts from Zahals, they were the only place I could find that had them in stock.

I used a factory CSA side rail (the one that comes on the sporter versions). It mounts with no modifications, to the receiver using the pre-tapped holes and comes with screws included.

The mount itself is also a CSA part, says VZ 58 on the side (which I like). Nice piece but needed some filing to get it to slide on and off the side rail smoothly. Once installed its VERY tight, no wiggling at all. Not sure how it holds zero, but I have to assume its going to be good based on how tight it mounts.

Overall, I like this setup. Comes on and off quickly, allows me to remove it to use the factory sights. Its a bit high, but works fine with my adjustable cheek rest. Only complaint is that its a bit heavy, which is also a good thing as i know its built tough.

A "bit" high?

If you want your investment to pay off the most, find a compact scope you can mount in regular rings, or a shell deflector to go with a regular scope. That sight offset is crazy.

Lets focus on the mount with this one. I didnt mention the red dot because I know its too high. But the mount itself is just a bit high and would work great with a low mounted scope. Which is what I intend to put on there at some point.

That Barska is a red dot? Why not mount it on the handguard?

The mount is the height it needs to be, if you want to disassemble the rifle without removing it.

If you post a pic, you will get comments on the complete pictured setup.

NEA rear mount

I would really like to get the "g. NEA REAR MOUNT". Painless installation with no drilling or tapping, shouldnt move once installed, increases length of pull for those of us with longer arms and a forward cantilever mount would put it in perfect position for a scope or red dot. Unfortunately I contacted NEA and they no longer make it. Anyone have any idea who might manufacture something similar or who might have one for sale.

Thanks.

Well, not a red DOT, but a little red + in the middle. I like it, but its built in mount is SUPER high so it sits really high on all my guns. I tried it on the hand guard and didnt like it up there. Its just a personal preference thing, but it was just too far away. Im going to replace it with a proper scope as soon as I can save enough money to buy a good quality one.

Hmmm I wanted that side rail you have, but I think it sits way too high, even with a low red dot/scope

think ill stick to mounting the red dot on the handguard rail

NEA cowitness with a Burris Fastfire.

I believe the irons were set to either 100m or the universal setting, which is of course slightly higher.

Here are a few more pictures of how I run the setup now. 2 configuration. Red dot on the front hand guard (once I got it sighted in I like it alot more, obviously) and, for the moment, a cheap NCstar 4X scope on the side mount. This scope was cheap and seems to work really well. Its held up to 600 or so rounds without any issues. Both of these can be removed and re-installed and still hold perfect zero. Ive gone back and forth at least a dozen times between them and each time it hits exactly where it did before.

For the record, shells dont come even close to the scope on this setup. It doesnt have one mark on it. Decent location for eye relief as well. I use the stock extended with this setup.

For this setup I run the stock at its shortest length. Works great and there have been no ill effects from heat in the hand guard so far.

This is my what I'm using. The micro red dot is awesome but I've ran accross a snag with my BUIS that I was hoping some one here could help me with, I know a few guys run identical set ups.

I've ran out of adjustment on my rear sight and I still keep shooting right, about 8-10 inches at 100m. What can I do to move my front sight to the right?

Hello,
I wonder if anybody has experience with the Zahal receiver cover.

looks great and I think would be the best solution for my ACOG.
The only downside that I see is the horrible price.
please share your opinion.

Zahal looks like they've got some neat stuff. Too bad they don't answer their e-mails (I've had a few product questions that they can't be bothered to answer it seems).

Just chiming in, pics to follow, I used 2 $5 barrel clamped scope mounts from dealextreme to mount an ultradot red dot on my CZH2003. The cowitness is almost perfect with the iron sights.

I plan to similarly mount a Bushnell IER on my non-res 858 (once they arrive).

They're pretty solid by the looks of things, and I can get a pretty decent grouping out to 25 yard with my CZH2003. (1" grouping with an unmagnified 4MOA red dot - at 25 yards, that's as good as it can shoot)

I'll run a torture test a little later on to see how well it holds up and how accurate the mount is at longer distances - but I can really see no reason why they wouldn't hold up. They're just a 2 pieces of aluminium with 4 screws. How can you possibly get that wrong?

I just REALLY dislike the upper handguard mounting systems on the market. They are really expensive, and when you think about it, every time you remove and re-install your handguard you ARE technically changing the zero on the scope. Also the factory handguards on mine have wobbled loose - I believe with heavy use, those systems would too, rendering them completely useless.

GREAT looking CZ setup!

Would you mind sharing more info on your sight set and how you went about mounting everything?

Very nice!
