Three answers on one page, all negative. Hmmmm...perhaps someone has an axe to grind? Methinks tho doth protest too much?
Just an observation.

You have a good eye Sir, and you can count to three.
With these qualifications you should be making important decissions in Ottawa among the other lieberals. :)

I can't cry at will, never make it. Not much for whining niether. I'm one of them 'Blue eye's Sheik's' from 'That Province' they wouldn't have me...dont think I'd want to much anyhow.

If you send it back, you only eat the return shipping, at least that's been my experience.
So you could be out $20 or $120, your choice I guess.
If you have already soured any chance of a return being belligerent, then you might be ####ed...

Tradex has always been top notch in my dealings with them. Most of the time purchases arrive in better condition than described.98's can be problematic due to the different chambering's and countries of manufacture.

Not my experience. I have bought a few guns from them. The last rifle I bought had a couple of issues and you could not even fire it. I contacted them and was told to return it for a refund, no problem. I got the refund but it was minus the shipping costs both ways. I was out of pocket for about $60.00 for a clearly defective item. Kind of turned me off from dealing with them.

So it would be fair to say this listed as a m98 military stock would be false advertising since it's been shortened and there for not military.

No. It looks to be an m98/48 stock. Not sporterized at all. They are a legit Yugo stock made from a k98k stock for a captured k98 with a new m48 barrel.

Just for your info, these shorter stocks aren't bubba jobs or sporterized. They were shortened by the Yugo's when they installed shorter barrels on some of the K98k's they refurbed.

It does sound odd though that the bolt cutout is off. Maybe there is more going on with your particular stock. Pics would help. nvmd. Saw the pics. You need a shortened handguard to allow your bands to fit.

I still would like to see pics of why the action doesn't fit. Why is the bolt cutout off?

It's not off, I pretty much guarantee it. It is a k98k stock shortened for the m48 length bbl. The op outed himself on Instagram. He's just flaming tradex every place he can b/c they haven't offered to refund his shipping. Childish, really.

Trade Ex has always been good to me. Even taking a rifle back that didn't feed well.

They have never given me bad service.

Looks like 2 guys #####ing and whining.

Call them and send it back if you aren't happy.

Learn the difference between a K98 and an M98.

Yeesh. So full of fail OP

The unwillingness to get a refund because one doesn’t want to pay shipping has always baffled me a bit. Last time I drove to the city to return a faulty toaster, they didn’t offer to cover my gas money.

I think you're right on that stock. No shortage of problematic shoppers out there. I'll be flagging a few ;)

Trouble with M98 rifles made with mostly surplus K98 parts was that there were variations in K98 rifles which varied in length, cup or steel buttplate etc... possible your stock is simply not for your particular barrel/action. I have a Yugo M98 with crest and everything it's stock does not match up with the same measurements to put into the other M98 for the other rifle. Yugo has a flat buttplate while the other has a cup. Side by side they look wet similar but they have slight variances in measurements so the holes won't line up so to speak.

Two sides to every story, and somewhere in the middle usually lays the truth.

Right on.

My own personal experience with trade ex has been very positive. Couple firearms and a bunch of reloading supplies. They are a good source for European calibers, both ammunition and components. Upon request, they sent me a bunch of extra pictures of a rifle including close ups. Firearms were well packaged for the not so delicate nature of the Canadian postal service.

When an ad is misleading and they send the WRONG product then what the ad states one should expect to not pay anything.... since it was the dealers mistake.... why would the customer be on the hook for any costs?!

Your logic is flawed.

It's not the wrong product. Any M98/48 stock will fit a German k98k, but the handguard has to be shortened 1/2". Takes 5 minutes with a rasp file. I've done it.

Even the us dealers are selling these interchangeably. It's the exact same stock, but shortened 1/2 inch. It fits. The op is just mad he didn't get a $300 stock for under $100. It happens.

I respectfully disagree. The product and the shipping are 2 different universes.

I agree that a faulty product should be fully refunded.

But “shipping” is something separate that you pay to avoid the hassle of driving there yourself, and is usually a tiny fraction of the cost it would take you to go get it yourself. Getting a product that doesn’t work for me is the risk I take when I choose shipping over driving.

No cost should be on the customer when a product is clearly falsely advertised and then faulty when it shows up. It's an extremely poor business practice when the consumer is stuck with a $40 bill for receiving a garbage product that was incorrectly advertised.
