WARNING SKS prices will go up in 2017

There is like five mint sks unissued early import. at prophet river they have been there almost three months they aren't selling stop with the fear mongering the market is clearly saturated ! And ps there much cheaper then that BBQ paint junk that crappy tire is plugging. There is thousands sitting in guys safes look at the EE these aren't selling like you guys keep wanting to believe
We are just stating the prices we see, Westrifle said, if you see them cheap,, buy them, I did, and I can't see them getting above $400 for a few years and not then if we get more imports from Russia or Ukraine or wherever! If prophet River is still cheap, buy them! The Market does seem to be saturated a bit, but my CTC is still selling 5-10 a week depending on the rebates /bonuses offered. We will see if that slows down with their $40 increase in price! The EE has some sks on but I haven't seen any really cheap, basically about the same as in stores!

If you think I am here to scary you in to buying more sks then you are wrong. There is hundreds of students that released from classes each week they are buying sks every day . I do not have shortage of customers. I am just stating obvious that " sks prices will go up" because There is no exporter in any ex USSR countries that thinks sks should be cheaper than 200 dollars ( Usa)in their warehouse. This is an issue for all the buyers. We are used to them sold in Canada for 200 dollars ( Canadian )

Now before you scream and yell at me I can tell you prices overseas went up so what you can do is go and buy at every possible dealer or website that still sells sks at around 225-250 mark. Three month later you will thank me.

Prices for sks as I estimate will be around 295 - 325 and this is not a marketing tool for me to sell my sks. There is basically no more Russian sks out there for Canadian importer to bring in at decent price.

GO AND BUY TODAY YOU WILL NOT BE SORRY

These tactics are amazing marketing tools.... Two things sell guns: 1. Politician and 2. This Ad, lol.

I will quote you when prices go up to around 350. Especially when people will post that those used to be 200 dollars not long ago. I am only here to warn. Trust me I have sales every single day.

Look what happened to Svt 40's they are 700 + now. I baught one for 250 and another 275 those days are gone.

westrifle_sks I think isn't far off the mark. I keep seeing canuck tire slowly but steadily raising the price on the sks they are selling here on the island. Programing the customer as well, bring up the price, then do a sales drop, and back up like that's the going normal rate. A little over 10 years or more if memory serves me correctly. You would see every table at the gun show with M1 Garand for sale, for about 400-600bucks, and only the most pristine ones getting bigger dollars. Find me one now for under $1800 and that doesn't look like hell. Now how do I sneak another sks past the wife to the gun safe hmmm....

Yes, my thoughts are the price for a good refurb shooter will hold at $350-$400- the sks is fairly plentiful and you may likely see more NOS Chinese sks come back when the price hits that mark! The issue is, as the price goes up, demand goes down, most of the "fun to own a cheap semi auto pinker" will bow out for other similar priced firearms, with mostly collectors left and they won't want the run of the mill shooter grade refurbs! Our CTC did just what you said, and upped their price from $199.99 to $239.99 on sale, reg price will be $279.99 if it ever comes off the sale price! The guys I know there have said that demand has noticeably dropped already! The ammo isn't crazy cheap anymore either, so once the surplus ammo gets close to other comparable rounds, that will affect the sales. Once the cheap gun/ cheap ammo is over demand will dwindle. Now if there truely is a lack of supply then everything will take care of itself, higher price, less product, less demand. Everyone would want a garand for $600. But how many at $1800-$2400. Same same, except there are a gaggle of folks out there with a gaggle of sks squirreled away! So I am sticking with the $350-$400 number for the next 5 or more years. Non refurb and otherwise special collector sks will of course demand a higher premium as always!

Hello bobdbldr!
We are trying to worn people that wants to save their hard earn money. Very simple.

Your opinion does matter!
I would like to bring to your attention that everything goes up in price. Inflation 101.
Supply and demand rule applies to everything in our life and I agree with you with higher prices less people will be able to buy it. This supply and demand also works at original point of sale (Russia or Ukraine ). I have to bring to your attention that Ukraine has war at this point and Russia under sanctions thus less supply. It is a formula that works in both countries :)
I love the fact that you mention Chinese SKS. Do you honestly think that the price for Chinese SKS does not go up? As far as I know the price of Chinese SKS from China has increased 50%-70%. Also shipping from China has increased . Ask other dealers on this forum that bring product from China and they will tell you that.
Chinese mentality is very different from Western world, I am not going to go in the details. Just want to say Norinco M305 price. What is current price and what is the price 5 years ago?

Prices at CTC. Well if we look at big cities like Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary and Winnipeg most likely they do not have it or have increased their prices. Smaller city CTC might have some left and as soon as they sell them out, they will put an order to main warehouse for 10, 20 or 30 or more and then they will see current price to stock it up went up and they will increase their price too.

I would like to talk about CTC prices and formula that you presented to me.
So based on your information I will calculate outcome. As you mention price was "....$199.99 to $239.99 on sale, reg price will be $279.99 if it ever comes off the sale price!". Based on your information price increased 40% in what under year? Remember supply still dry. What do you think going to happen next? Based on the above mention information with increase of 40%(199 to 279 see above) that we have seen in the past 8 month it will go to 391.99($279+$112(*40%)=391.99). in the next 8 month (+/-2 month). I will round it to $389.99 (CTC prices that is and we both know smaller store price is a bit higher than that ).
So based on information that you provided CTC will sell SKS (if they have it in the year of course) for $389.99
Now forget the term refurb , non-refurb, unissued and etc . I will be blunt we have been spoiled by supply that we used have. Let's be honest CTC have "just SKS " period. You will see some "Chinese surplus" make to their shelves but again it won't be Russian.
Until this commotion around Russia and Ukraine will stop prices just going to go up. But based on what we see they will not go down for the next 5 or more years I would say.

Yes, I think you are right, as my CTC shrinks their stock, the price will slowly rise, north Sylva has very few left, but as I said, the higher price of the sks and even more important is the ammo, will diminish the demand. I was thinking along the lines of new Chinese sks, if they ever release them again, we know the have millions! The refurb Chinese are crappy and overpriced! We will see but I still think for a regular shooter sks it will tough for them to get above $400. But I hope they do,,, I will sell a few of mine!
I see there are some SVT coming in here and there, will you be getting any of those?

Yes, because 40% price increase can keep going on and on. Soon an SKS will be worth more than a house.

Come on man, a cheap norinco handgun has gone from 300 to 400$ in the same time. That's 33% price increase (btw, 200$->240$ is a 20% increase, not 40%). Is there any chance we're gonna gonna run out of Norc handguns anytime soon? I doubt that.

And let's be realistic here, even if we suppose that sale price at CTC goes from 240$ to 280$ overnight, it's still a cheap plinker at that price point. Who's really going to the trouble of buying 10 of them, then the hassle of selling them on the EE, for a measly 400$, possibly minus shipping fee? Even those large percentage increase mean almost nothing in dollars, except for a business who moves lots of units. To the shooter who might buy (and use) one or 2 SKS in his whole lifetime, it's nothing. Still cheaper than a single entry-level AR15.

The really interesting stuff is the price of ammos. If the supply of cheap surplus ammos run out, then that's an earthquake. Price of ammos up, price of gun down.

I was merely illustrating increase in regard to SKS. I did not mention Chinese handgun price increase. New production by the way falls under different rules it has nothing to do with supply and demand. Cost of material increase is different. Price of labor increase with less % and in some cases even falls (in China).
Exchange rate plays the differents too.
Profit margin based on demand.
Inflation rate for production keeps rising.
Different ball game . I am not sure if 20% increase on Chinese made firearms is normal or abnormal. Not my region.

Price of ammunition goes up currently. All depends on USA market and buying power of consumer in USA. this is in regard to new ammo.
In regards to surplus .Simple. More wars more demand .. higher prices.
Prices will go down as soon as we see calmness in Syria and Ukraine but as long as new conflicts are not on the rise. Libya...Iraq...Afghanistan you name it.
Black money can get you anything in that region and I do not have to list biggest suppliers to that region .

So, basically you agree that every factor plays in favor of lower sks prices, but you still expect prices to rise?

They have, I haven't paid more than $200 for any sks except 2, a 1955, $210 because I wanted that particular one, and a 59/66, $565 ish iirc. Every other one was between $149. And $199. With average around $175.! I wait for sales and some stores getting out of sks! Last year I got 2 laminate sks refurb but nice, for $156. Each. A CTC local stopped selling them and put them on for $150. I heard word of mouth because they aren't allowed to advertise guns at CTC. Now that is pretty much over. I cannot find any sks near $200. When CTC puts on a promo $50 card for buying over $200 then I could look, but I have picked through most of the local sks and really don't want anymore, especially at the higher prices. I usually pick the blued light or non refurbs, also picked some refurbs with the cool blueing including the bayo, wouldn't mind a couple more of those! Like it or not, Westrifle is correct, the prices are going up.! It's just a matter of how much!

You going to be lucky soon to find Sks at 250. Don’t buy from me but from competition. All I have been saying to Everyone Russian Sks are on the rise. Good luck
