The following applies to all you long gun owners.

Fear mongering at its best, please do not try to divide the gun owners out there, ie good gun, bad gun, won't work. Better to promote the NFA etc. My two cents anyway.

I don't see it as fear mongering or in any way devisive, it is simply a statement of fact. There is a huge group that wants us to have NO guns!

I have been shooting for over 40 years.

I have seen numerous times in the past where the long gun owners said " that does not affect me " & did not get in & help. That has to change.

ALL gun owners have to realize that this is " all for one & one for all " .

Good point Griffoneur, this is the tactic that the antis will use against us. It's not fearmongering - it's alerting us to exactly what we will have to face if handguns are banned. That will not stop them because they have declared they want them ALL, and that they are happy taking away one type of gun at a time. Semi-auto handguns, then revolvers, then all handguns. Then military-looking semi long guns, then all semis, then those with magazines, etc. We cannot let them take away ANY guns, period. ANY guns lost is another tightening of the noose, and it will NEVER be loosened.

Exactly.. most hunters say I don't own handguns and I don't care if they get banned but they don't know what's hidden for them in the long run.

Is that what you will say when they take away your Browning BAR?

They took away our BARs and every other semi-auto and self-loader.
They even nicked the pump shotguns.
One gun is the same as another in the eyes of those who hate guns and it should also be in our eyes.
The "I'm alright, Jack" attitude doesn't help.
As far as I'm concerned the notice that started this thread should UNITE shooters.
Don't learn the hard way......we did.

All for one, one for all.
The anti's are not going to stop with guns.
You knife collectors, better have a heads up! A lot of people are killed by knives each year and unless your sitting at the dinner table there is no excuse to carry a knife. Maybe as a registered, licenced trades person you will be issued an ATT, but don't be caught with one outside of your work area.

I'm just saying, no one is ammune (sp) to these folks. Long gun, hand gun, bows and arrows, knives, breeds of dogs, there's no end to it. These people effect us individually and collectively and we must stand up for our brothers and sisters.

AMEN Brother.

I am guilty of not fighting the initial push against full autos, and for the intoduction of the FAC because "It sounded reasonable. What does a civilian need a FA anyway? Besides, I don't have one anymore, so why bother?
An FAC, we were told, "Will keep the criminal and mentally ill from obtaining firearms" What a laugh!
As our Jewish Brethern say: "NEVER AGAIN"
We must never fall for that old divide and conquer BS again.
We must use our resources, time and moneyl, writing letters and speaking up to hold on to what we have and regain lost ground, because "We were being reasonable"
Being "Reasonable" is a two way street and our leftist friends are anything other than "Reasonable" and we must now resist any and all attempts made to infringe on our harmless shooting and collecting passtimes.

Well said, Grouse Man. I'm personally more interested in service rifles and hunting arms than I am handguns, but to the antis my guns are "deadly, high-powered military assault weapons", "deadly, high powered sniper rifles capable of killing at terrifyingly long ranges", and "devastatingly high powered street-sweeping close range assault weapons". Once they get handguns banned, they won't be satisfied. They'll come after the hunters and skeet shooters next.

They fear and hate our guns, they fear and hate and cannot comprehend us, and they will not rest until all of us are disarmed. Think I'm exxagerating? Look at the Wendy quote in my .sig. We're in her sights.

When "hunting"(hounds and horses, old English style) was under scrutiny here in the UK, most of the shooting organisations were pretty active in opposing a ban(even though this kind of hunting does"nt involve firearms)
At the same time, the posh tarts who were into horses and hounds attacked shooting in the media, saying that it was an ineffecient way to kill foxes. (so screw those guys, they got banned anyway)
No-one should think that because they shoot target rifle/black powder or whatever that they are safer than the guy who shoots a tricked out AR.
The gun banners don"t know the difference! And they don"t care!
Fight for the other guys gun like it was yours, cos next time it will be!

this is totally true - exactly the way i used to think just a couple years ago. i even argued that handguns were useless with someone who was more up-to-date on all of the gun control agendas and he completely changed the way i think about gun control.
reading more about how gun control schemes are put into effect, i realise that its this exact attitude that enables gun control to be implemented progressively so that by the time the average bolt-action owning hunter knows whats going on its too late to fight back.

first its the automatics, then the handguns, then the semis, then the short barrels and pumps, then its the bolt action hunting rifles that people thought they would never go after.

the best thing for everyone to do is go get an RPAL and buy even a crappy handgun and semi. you dont have to spend a fortune - even if you just go out and buy a cheap Norinco Tokarev and an SKS, youve just become a handgun and semi-automatic rifle owner and made these guns more difficult to take away. everyone should speak to their hunter friends - most of whom will tell you they have no use for a handgun - and try to convince them to apply for their RPAL. if every CGN member just convinced ONE person to get their RPAL and buy a $150 handgun, it would be a significant blow against gun control. the reason gun control laws in the US are nearly impossible to pass is because of the sheer number of gun and handgun owners and their solidarity.

I understand what griff is saying with the picture, most of us who have restricted can relate for sure, Maybe fear mongering was a poor choice of words, however in my experience most people with a duck gun or deer rifle don't care about handguns, Most of the old timers think that the registery will disappear for long guns:eek: Only to shrug when I tell them otherwise. We can't even get a majority CPC government when the masses keep voting liebral, (hello Ontario) No I still think we need to bolster the NFA etc, and have them continuously keep a firm grip on Stockwell's nuts in order to keep the firearm spirit alive. Just my opinion, keep the fight alive.
