We need to support Maxime Bernier

who is willing to kill c-68 so I can get my uzi out of the safe a dn de-prohibit my m14s- I haven't seen anything from any of the candidates about being willing to modify the prohib list in any way-that's American m14, not the norinco

You can vote for Brad Trost who promised "Firearms: Repeal C-68 . . . IN FULL"

Trost is a non starter.
The religious right is like a free floating turd in the swimming pool of canadian politics.
Their ideas on ### marriage and abortion are 500 pound anchors around a political parties neck.
Ask preston manning.

O'Leary's campaign has been a disaster in every way. He's said one stupid thing after another, alienated most conservatives, alienated Canadians, and after a hyped start has really gone nowhere. He's barely been in Canada most of the time, skipping debate after debate. He will never beat Trudeau, but it won't matter because he won't win this leadership anyway. He's done.

I think any conservative candidate hoping to beat Trudeau will just have to sidestep social conservatism and double down on fiscal conservatism.
The Liberals' bread & butter is that common association between Liberal = personal liberty/freedom, compared to the perception that conservative = repressive.
And in 2017, Ward Cleaver ain't winning jack.

But fiscally, hey, everybody #####es about their taxes, so there's hope.
Of course it helps if you avoid the Ontario PC approach of trumpeting your plan to reduce the size of government... by boasting about how many people will lose their jobs.

Conservatives need to fight fire with fire. Who can they get who is of famous descent, is cute and cuddly with nice hair, and has absolutely no substance? That's what it will take to beat the Liberals.

A lot of people thought Trudeau had no chance , yet unfortunately here we are.

A lot of people said Trump had no chance , look who's president.

Bernier and O'toole both have way more credentials than our drama teacher PM and Bernier is an established politician.
I pray to God they have a chance but unfortunately most people are too stupid to realize what's actually good for the country.
I just wish a politician would come along that actually kept their word and did what was best for Canada no matter what , would be a nice change eh lol.

Also , just because many/most people believe or think something is best , doesn't mean it's right or actually best. The current liberal regime is a perfect example IMHO.

Fairly valid point. Harper was good and did make the hard decisions for Canada. I agree , best PM in my time overall.
And by nice for a change I meant from the current regime. They are destroying Canada. I think Trudeau has done more for other countries and their citizens than his own so far. It's ridiculous man.

:agree:
Too bad many canadian voters are as brainless and clueless as the guy they elected to succeed harper in 2015 because he had nice hair and promised to legalize weed.
We were doing good under harper with flaherty as finance minister.
It was harpers fault in a way for not backing off the fascist stuff (c51) when he knew it was scaring off conservative supporters in droves.
Canadians don't want that american homeland security and nsa crap up here as they are very privacy paranoid.

1- good for you

2- are you a member of CPC (if no skip to question 4)

3- who is your pick in this leadership race then ?

4- in the event Bernier gets to lead CPC, will you be voting CPC in 2019 ?

answers 1 I will vote for someone who I believe has integrity 2 yes 3 still deciding, but not bernier 4 I hope Canada can do better, pray we do not have to make that choice

A vote for anybody but o'leary at the convention will help extend trudeaus lease on 24 sussex past 2019.

Do you really think that Trump is that popular here in Canada?
Because that's how O'Leary is being marketed/perceived (inaccurate though that may be).
If the CPC chooses O'Leary then on election night, we'll get a chance to see Canada roast Trump in effigy.

On a "positive" note, Kim Campbell will find herself flooded with requests for interviews.

I sure hope you are right.

I can't stand O'Leary, more liberal (maybe more democrat since he's spends more time in America) than conservative. He also can't speak french to save his life, which is pretty much a requirement for Canadian politics like it or not.

If people vote for O'Leary and he gets the leadership, they may as well have voted for Justin the way I see it. Bleh! I hate politics..

Bernier on the other hand while he still has had some political missteps, has a clear, simple and conservative platform. I would love the current big government model to get a kick in the pants from Bernier, we could use a little libertarian freedom IMO.

If O'Leary gets the leadership I will be cancelling my conservative membership.

-Peace

Trump is trying to do what he campaigned on, yes oleary and trump were both business people first, maybe that should be a prerequisite to be a prime minister. Don't forget most Canadians get there one sided news from the cbc and cnn both one sided garbage.

Whoever gets in, they better make it quick. They've got a lot of PR work to do, to get recognized by the Canadian voters.
