In 1962 I met a guy in a gun shop that had a 300 Wby with a brocken stock, he was there to buy a new stock of course there was non. A new stock had to come from California. The store had a new 300Wby I told the guy lets make a deal. I am looking for a complete barreled action. So I bought the 300 Wby borrowed a screw driver and toke off the stock and we spit the cost. I made a stock and hunted with this rifle for 25 years, it was super accurate. Nothing ever toke more than one shot. You just can't beat a 300 Wby. A bit on the heavy side but I packed it up and down mountains all over western Canada and Alaska. Mountain game you don't have to worry about how it stands the 180gr Bitterroot bulet would take care of it. Break bones and stop it right there nothing will walk away. After I busted my rotator cuff I had to quit using it. What a shame. The 300Wby is a number uno and stands alone for an all round hunting rifle.
Not too small for big stuff and not, and not too big for small stuff.
Long range Antelope and coyots with 196gr Match bullets is no contest when the wind blows in the prairie.
