Weatherby Vanguard Series 2 Kryptek Typhon

What numbs my brain is that Wholesale starts selling them for under $500 and Prophet River raised their prices from $609 to $699 this week.

Still trying to figure that one out.

There are a very limited number of models, in a very imited number of chamberings, being sold at $487.

Alright, no problem there.

But why all of a sudden after they were listing their S2's at $609 in 257 did they bump them to $699?

"Hey look, the S2's are on special, lets add $100 to ours". Make sense?

I'm a mod but not scared to make a call. What? I'm gonna get fired for this, not bloody likely. Just making a call on it. I've been around here right from the start. I call em as I see em.

Explain to me why they would add $90 to their price last Wednesday and I will make a full apology.

I never did see wby caliber rifles on sale at WSS. They are probably just blowing out the ugly stocked models to make room for the "jumpinprice2015" models..

^The stock is not that bad in person.

Anybody have a hard time putting the bolt back together? Took me freaking 10 minutes to put it back together after taking it apart to clean, is there a trick to it? Couldn't get it to twist back in. Lol

Just a wild guess, but the new 2015 stock is coming in, and with the Canadian dollar falling so much against the American dollar, the new rifles are costing a lot more to bring in.

Has anyone tried using one of the S2's for long range shooting?

I have the base model one in 308 that I'm planning to use for reaching out there. Am I being unrealistic if I put a decent scope on it? I'm looking for MOA out to about 600 (furthest the range goes)

Last week or so wholesale jumped thier price on the standard black/gray synthetic s2's by $50 and cabelas jumped by $40. Last year around this time the dollar was pretty close to par and rifles were close to what they were selling for in the states. Now there is almost a 20% difference on the dollar when purchasing new stock. I was expecting close to $100 jump on these rifles but large chain stores can probably absorb a little bit of the cost jump as compared to smaller private vendors.

Also I am guessing that the larger vendors who purchase higher volumes can get the rifles at a lower cost so they are affected a little less by the changing dollar.

What does seem weird is that wholesale also jumped $35 on the clearance sale s2's by $35 which obviously is old stock.

They just jumped in price because the cost to bring them in just jumped.

I received my Weatherby wholesale order on Thursday. It was ordered back in December.

Between then and now the average cost of the various Vanguard II options went up 80 bucks.

That gets passed along.

And yes, while the UPC number on the Vanguard II Kryptek 270 win did change I personally can't tell the difference and the specs are identical.

If anyone is considering one and Wholesale still has them sub 500 bucks do grab one up.

As to Prophet Rivers price change, I would say to expect it to change again. That looks like a blended price because it is WAY TOO LOW to reflect the "CURRENT" wholesale price.

Since I didn't have "existing stock" to blend the price, our price on the VGII Kryptek is about 100 bucks "MORE" than Prophet River.

Yes, they may sit - but only until existing stock is bought up elsewhere and "reality" of a crappy buck effects all the sellers...

I just bought one in 308 and it is the best money I ever spent. The trigger is awesome. And I shot one inch groups at one hundred yards with factory loads.

I just bought one in 308 too! Too good a sale to pass up. I don't have optics mounted - I will have to wait until the spring until I can buy the right thing.

What ammo were you shooting for those groups?

Took my heavy 22" barreled 308 this weekend, best group of the day was around 1/2" with a buddies handloads at 100yrds, and I'm brand new to prescision shooting, I flinch like an abused child. this gun is amazing, so glad got in on that deal!

How hard is it to get a good replacement stock for these guns? I know the Weatherby line likes to have a pressured foreend. Would a replacement stock replicate the factory pressure point properly? What about tightening it down so that it functions correctly? I like the stock on mine (standard grey) more every time I handle it, but one day some laminate might be nice.

When I saw these on sale for $487 I bought 2: .243 and .270. Bonus was $75.00 discount if you spend $500. Just add a box of factory ammo and you qualify for the discount. I have several Weatherby deluxe and Mark V rifles. The S2's are hard to beat for the price. Every one I have is a good shooter and the new ones with the two stage trigger are nice. I just can't find another manufacturer that can offer a rifle like this for a comparable price.

I like the walnut stocks but the two new ones I bought are for my young sons. They like the composite stocks (think they are cool) and I think they will stand up to alot of abuse.

I think that these two rifles are the best deal I ever got on new over the counter purchase. Thank you WSS.
