I would recommend you look at the writings of Dr. Stuart McGill from the University of Waterloo. I'd venture to say he's one of the best people in the world for managing back pain. I bought a two of his books and they have been awesome in helping me deal with back issues that I've have.

Hamilton Hall's book, "The Back Doctor" is a good one, too.

Used acetone to remove the dip film and white primer. Did a do-it-myself rattle can, redneck Kryptek paint job "Krypneck". Getting lots of compliments and I'm proud of it. Wish I could post some pics and share but... Got a link of how to post pics?

What did the stock look like under the primer and camo? Just a plain old black synthetic?

Noted for future reading! Thanks guys!

Aug 14 2013 I had a full fusion and disk replacement L4-L5, I can sympathize Kevan. Best wishes.

If they have you on pain meds, narcotics, think of those as a necessary evil, or a product of the devil himself. I had a very hard time getting off those. My surgery had some complications and am just now, despite what my doctors recommend, kicking them to the curb. I hope you are stronger than I was. Most likely you are lol.

Now, here is the amazing part.... virtually no back pain whatsoever since the afternoon of the day of surgery, I am totally amazed !!
I can fully feel my right leg for the first time in nearly seven months since the Sciatic nerve was badly pinched, walking upright without using a cane is a huge relief.
The neurosurgeon gave me enough painkiller prescriptions to literally start my own drug business and I haven't used a one.
Discomfort I have , but no pain.
In June and July I had such excruciating pain that Oxycodone and Morphine had little effect so Cleftwynd my Friend I know what you feel and I pray for your healing.
As long as I live I will never forget having to crawl to the bathroom in a flash of white pain when it was at its worst.

I apologize to the OP for side-tracking this excellent thread, and Bless You All..... You are all very Special..

The Blaze Vanguard 2 was $419.99 all in out here in the Calgary WSS when picked up in store.
The 5% tax is nice but I don't think it will last unfortunately once the new provincial NDP government has had a chance to do their thing.............

I stripped the dip off my stock as well...plain old black synthetic, 2 heavy coats of primer, and then the dip

whenever I get around to actually painting my stock, I was planning to post a few pics up on here....my main motivation for stripping the stock was to get back some of the checkering

I appreciate the reply. Did the stock look decent when the primer and dip wee removed? As in decent enough to leave black?

Has anyone just restocked on in a McMillan, or something of high quality with a bedding job? Sorry if it's been posted, but this thread has a lot to sift through.
