1- Did I not read that this is coming from Public Safety? Thus Ms. MacLellan? Nim listed input from Windy. (Is public input usually taken that directly? Can I speak to a panel and raise speed limits to 150? Do they have an open slate when it comes to drafting firearms laws in this country? Wow!). Why? Who knows why? Time to write the CFCG and ask exactly what they're looking for. I presume they are most active at the UN now? (Oh No, the UN and Windy and the Masters of Beaurocracy backing them all up.)
About Section 8: Are we already...
Yes, but have been for a while. Not too late, a change of government would make quick work of all this non-sense.
In the meantime, let's rant and roar to our MPs, MPPs and get some stories in the paper. We need a friendly face with reasonably honorable looking firearm and a story about how an ammendment sponsored by "*insert name of nefarious group" has or will render his property valueless and end his sport shooting hobby. Is there anyone out there who *only* owns prohibs? [or, ahem, could make that happen for a bit]. That person would now be effectively prohibited from competing in DCRA service rifle matches, or shooting AT ALL, no? He could be the *first* non-criminal Canadian to be stripped of his right to shoot, though he has followed all laws, etc. Would the average MP be in favour of such an amendment? It is borderline a minority right issue at this point.
Anyone know a high-ranking outspoken retired CF officer/nco who only owns an FN?
Getting the story out is obviously crucial, offer the story up to local reporters, reporters love getting stories handed to them (ask the CFGC). Anyone who thinks they have a story should get their refusal, write their MP, and gather the responses. For quicker responses, call whoever you can talk to, tape everything, and get busy with transcripts. *As everyone is reading this, story ideas should NOT be published here first. Don't beat the reporter to the scoop.*
Then let'er rip. A side bonus is that it will open the doors to an opposition party who could popularly campaign with their firearms reform proposals, leaving the liberals scrambling in an unpopular position (liberals HATE being unpopular, esp Mr. Dithers). Now I'm dreaming
