Well, Now They've Declared War.....

right good to see some who wants to fight too

Well, 5 pages yet and nothing so far, no plan. We need to regroup team!

What we know:
1- We are on our own. As usual other groups/people will not help because it dosen't hit them directly. bheeeeeaa
2- Nobody had seen it come so what's next? Hidden agenda?
3- Next step is the reform of AR, pistols and sport rifles (again they will not touch, for now, the hunters..dicension is good for them!)
4- CGN'z are a minority so we do not have heavy weight in the balance. Even at my shootingclub there is no petition..nobody cares?!?
5 What else?

What we need to know?, cause i beleive information is a must and great value before planing anything. Informations is vital to any tactics. We must know our ennemy!

1- Who is actually putting pressure on the Gov regarding this case? looby, group?? and WHY? Who is the Master Puppet?
2- Who is leading the case in the Liberals? and who is supporting the case in other party?
3- By law definition, what can we do, fight and/or contest about it? lawsuit would be helpfull on that. Is there any way to put some sand in the gears?
4- How mutch $$ to fight?
5- Who could be sensitive to our cause? newspapwer, TV, etc, and who is ready to hear?
6- Does it really help if we send letters and petition or it goes directly to file 13th?
7- What other process can we take legally to stop or contest the law?
8- I must put the next one... are we actually F... and it's to late?

We should be able to discuss solutions after we collect all informations.

1- Did I not read that this is coming from Public Safety? Thus Ms. MacLellan? Nim listed input from Windy. (Is public input usually taken that directly? Can I speak to a panel and raise speed limits to 150? Do they have an open slate when it comes to drafting firearms laws in this country? Wow!). Why? Who knows why? Time to write the CFCG and ask exactly what they're looking for. I presume they are most active at the UN now? (Oh No, the UN and Windy and the Masters of Beaurocracy backing them all up.)

About Section 8: Are we already...
Yes, but have been for a while. Not too late, a change of government would make quick work of all this non-sense.

In the meantime, let's rant and roar to our MPs, MPPs and get some stories in the paper. We need a friendly face with reasonably honorable looking firearm and a story about how an ammendment sponsored by "*insert name of nefarious group" has or will render his property valueless and end his sport shooting hobby. Is there anyone out there who *only* owns prohibs? [or, ahem, could make that happen for a bit]. That person would now be effectively prohibited from competing in DCRA service rifle matches, or shooting AT ALL, no? He could be the *first* non-criminal Canadian to be stripped of his right to shoot, though he has followed all laws, etc. Would the average MP be in favour of such an amendment? It is borderline a minority right issue at this point.

Anyone know a high-ranking outspoken retired CF officer/nco who only owns an FN? :)

Getting the story out is obviously crucial, offer the story up to local reporters, reporters love getting stories handed to them (ask the CFGC). Anyone who thinks they have a story should get their refusal, write their MP, and gather the responses. For quicker responses, call whoever you can talk to, tape everything, and get busy with transcripts. *As everyone is reading this, story ideas should NOT be published here first. Don't beat the reporter to the scoop.*

Then let'er rip. A side bonus is that it will open the doors to an opposition party who could popularly campaign with their firearms reform proposals, leaving the liberals scrambling in an unpopular position (liberals HATE being unpopular, esp Mr. Dithers). Now I'm dreaming

Some of this has been done already, or at least the first salvo. Personally, I've laid this in some detail on the desk of several Liberal MPs not friendly to C68 (yes there are some), several senior editors of major dailies, and more to come. (I AM getting tired of spending every Saturday lately writing letters... ) Its time for the "chattering classes" to raise the chatter to a sharp roar.

That's not a bad idea... we should organize some type of protest or ralley. That'd open their eyes a little bit. We gotta get in their face! :x

".........and when they came for me.........."

The word will be passed to all that I know out here.......there is a bunch of 12(X) owners that I shoot with.

Well Mark, seems your eloquent dissertation has again the eyes and ears of the community. I am not a 12(X) owner (I hope you are taking care of my Uzi Mark  ), because I did “get rid” of my stuff.. What a fool I was… And as they say, fool me once..

Now as has been also suggested, we need a plan, we need a plan that will work, and we need support. Me thinks the current interlopers are not long in office. We need to let our similar minded folk get elected and form a government that know that guns are not the evil they are made to be. Maybe we could convince our government to start chasing after bad guys.. What a concept. Boy it is easy to float off on a tangent while one is so passionate about a cause. So back to the show..

So, it is the 12 (X) now, soon, it will be all the rest of the guns, our guns.. MY GUNS!! They have huge money going into their machine and the fact they are where they speaks volumes. They have money, lawyers, the government all lined up.. Why else would a corrupt law be passed? So in order to combat this group, we need legal assistance. Do we have an army of lawyers yet? We need to get the message across to these guys, and our system says court!!!

If scumbag dope dealers, child molesters, and the worst part of society have rights and get away with the heinous of crimes, why can not law-abiding citizens have similar recourse and just laws! Lets make the system work for us. Lawyers and change of government. So that calls for money, lots of good ideas, lets form a society (think of the tax deductible contributions!!!), we have enough people here who can participate (some of us as Mark has suggested can not actively participate by virtue of our jobs), but we have a voice and we have dough!!!

Seems like the other groups are falling apart, let us not loose our heads while everyone’s loosing theirs.

So who is going to champion this cause? How do we engage a lawyer? How much do they require? How do we collect enough money?

So who do we know who can be volunteered!!!

They are Forcing gun owners

I hate to say this, but the GOVERNMENT is going to create criminals out of normal law abiding citizens!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They will also create a market for illegal non-registered firearms. If they dont know about it then they cannot drive to your house and take it!!!!!!!!

I don't have any 12 x guns but will support you guys in any way possible. You guys that own them need to send letters ASAP asking for compensation on your ###$ valued 12x firearms that are now worthless as you can no longer use them for their intended purpose, which is target shooting. This would only be a short term, immediate action. Further action needs to be taken.

Just my 2 cents

As the 2 F/A collectors I talked to yesterday said: "it's nice to see that NOW IT AFFECTS THEM the C/A guys are up in arms, but where were they in '77 & '95? when the F/As were gutted?"

Everyone seems to have the "...it doesn't affect me so..." attitude in this country, and it's about time that it is recognized & eliminated. Glad to see this seems to be happening.

I think the firearms issue is only the tip of the iceberg. They aren't worried about "public safety", they are worried about their own. What have they got up their sleeves that make them terrified of a population with access to firearms and the skills to use them.

I also don't believe this is solely a politician thing. It's really the unelected, untouchable Bureaucrats who remain, even as governments change, that are really running the show. Things have continued to decline through several changes of government. Remember Kim Campell and her clan of idiots?

I believe the long term solution, as stated earlier is to get people in power sympathetic to our cause (justice and equality, values absent for decades now).

I have to go and work on my letter to my MP now. Hard to remain calm and coherant I am so LIVID.

I have received a letter from the CFC, advising me of the good news. My MP is from the Conservative Party. I gave a call to the consituency office this afternoon. The person who took the call was as nice as you could expect, seemed to understand what I was trying to explain (which is always nice when talking about firearm regulation to a non-initiated), and said he would get back to me. Given the uproar C-10A has created on this furum, I half expected that he would already be aware of the issue, or at least that someone had beat me to it. To my surprise, I was the first person to call, let alone write. IMHO, we need to show the political parties that there is a capital of voters behind this issue.

Cheers,

PM out to koldt..My letter arrived in the morning's mail...I can say that I am completely pissed off...I knew this would come eventually.Time to get buisy writing letters and contacting the local MP.....R....
