Well sporterized Enfields

Do you know who made this one? Certainly a superior piece. Note how the safety detent spring has been relocated.

One way to create a recoil lug is to leave a piece of the front wall of the butt socket. A rear recoil lug, akin to the way a Steyr is set up. Or, a Remington/Savage style lug could be sandwiched between the barrel shoulder and receiver ring.
The rounded contours of a SMLE receiver can result in a smoother contoured rifle than a reworked No. 4.
I am not sure but I have seen much the same style of stock come out of Epps' shop when Ellwood himself was running it .

i have a pretty nice parker hale lee enfield sporter, im assuming its a top model as it has PH made sling swivels, sling, front, rear sight, scope mount, rings and a 5 round mag ("made in japan Expressly for Parker-Hale limited"). it also has a pachmayr White Line butt pad, new wood.

i also had one of those 1 piece stock no1's a few years ago. i turned it into a 410 shotgun, but i really like how it felt, pointed and balanced lovely. sold it a while ago now

I remember a better than average PH sporter that came into the shop. It was one of the SMLEs that had been restocked, charger bridge removed, and had been rebarreled with a commercial barrel. No Nock's Form, round breech. English proofs. It had the greatest excess headspace I have ever seen on a Lee Enfield. Bolt was loose on the .074 gauge. I set the barrel back, and recut the chamber.

This is one of the most gorgeous Lee Enfield customs I have ever seen!
I gave it to a good friend's nephew who started to hunt, it is accurate with the Williams Peep and has accounted for several animals for him.
Barrel shortened, butt socket removed, flush mounbt mag made, extra action screw installed and trigger tuned, and a recoil lug added . Likely the most accurate Lee Enfield sporter I have ever shot at 200 yards.

Note the similarity in the stock styling. I suspect the stocks were carved by the same supplier.

I have 2 Lee Speed "High Velocity Sporters". One is a #2 grade, the other is a #3 grade. These rifles feel like badminton rackets compared to other rifles, even my Brno 21.

The vast majority of Lee Speeds are sighted for MK6 type ammo, the 215 gr rn bullet. If they are sighted for MK7 ammo, it will be engraved/stamped on the barrel. The cape sight for these models has a shorter ladder part of the sight.

I have owned a couple of civilian built Lee Speeds , one a BSA and one a Joseph Grant- both were great rifles!

With so many Bubba sporters out there, it's been a joy perusing this thread. Glad to see that at least some of these fine old rifles are being treated well.
That was my inspiration. I was hanging up the new Stag 10 in the safe and pulled out dad's old Lee Enfield. My only other .3" rifle. I bought the stag to preserve my inheritance. But it looks like I'll be hunting with it this fall.

I had a bishop sprterized p14 that was very well done, and retained the original sights and barrel length. Very nice walnut in it too. Picked it up for 125$ with 100 rounds of ammo!

I have a SMLE receiver that would be ideal for a one piece conversion. It has been banged on the bottom of the butt socket, and one of the trigger guard screw lugs has been flattened.

Here's my recoil lug, front of butt socket and a block welded on.4a.jpg

yes
the butt pad grip cap is too thick ,but they are protecting the edges ,BSA steel butt plate with widows peak and the pistol is also metal once the bottom of the grip is swept up at the back side ,then checkering
The bolt has been bent , milled then checkered and the sight cut on the back of receiver has also been filled/ action is dated 1895.I found a tang safety assembly that I am currently measuring up to make a copy

as for fish belly mag ,can't find any and my 2 attempts so far were failures (it is 375 flanged)

Still a work in progress on a fake lee speed

Nice looks good,im building a similer rifle for a guy. I filled the volley sight cutout and reshaped it like an lec receiver. I also reshaped the bolt.

Im using an lec receiver with a lee metford bolt so i have a dust cover and no safety, for my lee speed build. we should talk about that safety you found. I need some info or pics or something, ill PM ya.

And yeah the 375 may be harder to make work with the fish belly mag. Even the factory 375 mags were flat bottom more so.

Did you see the how to by B_noser over on nitro express?

I have a really weird PH #1, the left side is the nice high polished blue, right side is a mess of blued pitting from muzzle to receiver, it doesn't look like it happened post rebuild, no rust or blue wear, it's so bad you can't even make out the maker marks. Hard to imagine PH put this out the doors, but I don't know what else could have happened to it.
Bore is great, and it shoots very well with the crappy PH barrel sights.
I'll try and get a pic, it was a really cheap buy, so a deal on the way it shoots, but man is it 1/2 ugly lol.

You should name it "Two Face"
