Two semi auto RPD variants were submitted to the lab by Arms East some time ago. January would have been 3 years I believe. Or is it 4... the time has been long.
And the news is not good...

Deemed prohibited as easily convertable to full auto. With the following quote in the legal section of each entry...
"- It is the inherent, full automatic essence/design of the firearm itself that makes this firearm susceptible to be "readily and easily converted from semi-automatic fire to fire shots in rapid succession with one pressure of the trigger in a relatively short period of time with relative ease".
Odd, as the receivers are purpose built as semi auto only. But who can argue with the lab. No really, they are the appointed experts. /sarc. I mean what easier way to prevent a no capacity limit belt fed semi auto from coming to the market than to say it is easily convertable without having to show how under the guise of "it would affect public safety if we said how" even though the guns will never be allowed into the country.
Honestly I thank AE for their efforts in attempting to bring an exciting new gun to the market. Not mad at them in any way. It is amazing anyone would want to be in this industry with this kind of process.
Another disturbing incident
I noticed the Washington post's banner in good journalism until this weekend, but it fits with firearms legislation Internationally as the "canary in the mine" for a democracy and the abuses that threaten it; what people in "authority" / Public Service truly think of their own people in their heads and their hearts (those who "live and breath" insincerity and cynicism need not apply). We see it every day around the world; and in many cases, not all, it is not a pretty picture for the future of those Citizen/Victims; our own brothers and sisters, really
"Democracy Dies in the Darkness" (and I would add the real possibility of stagnation, instability and conflict spreads; - just look around us!)
We just have to ALL step up and deal with issues like this collectively because the truth is on our side (sad that we have "sides" but we do), plain and simple. Its a matter of articulating ourselves in a fair, open and honest way, again, again, again, again (as Churchill said above) and letting the public vote "against fear and misinformation" * assuming we truly put our backs in it. It we don't or if we loose needlessly by default, then Democracy will truly have died in the Darkness, and other bad things will follow: "There can be no Peace without Justice, and when you give up one you will eventually loose the other...."

A very interesting review ( I would have almost liked to have seen a merge between Stonewall Jackson & Erwin Rommel. Both Were excellent leaders. They were both only on the loosing side which supported corrupt and dysfunctional leaders and ideas that brought their foundations down around their heads). Sound familiar in varying degrees? It does not have to end that way with our system of government unless we let it happen

- This will be the Canadian version starting with some or one in the RCMP who started this mess. It would be good to see this form of corruption (for that is what it is in an abuse of position), if what you outline is factually correct dealt with first by other RCMP members to protect their own reputation and credibility for a Institution and force that we must be able to respect. I want to be able to respect "our RCMP" because they are us.
