What .243 Is In Your 'Never To Be Sold' Collection?

Well, I have a 243, and it is quite accurate, but not gonna say I'll never part with it. [Savage M14]

I do have a M77 Tang safety Ruger in 6mm Remington that is not going anywhere, though.
Will shoot sub moa with several bullets. Deadly on deer and varmints.

My best shot with this one was a muley at 377 yards, ranged.
90 Scirocco dumped him right there.

Regards, Eagleye.

I have a Remington 700 SPS Youth in .243 that is on the never sell list purely because my wife claimed it as her rifle. It fits her and she enjoys shooting it, and to be honest it shoots really well.

Can't figure why some feel the need to chime in when they have no interest in a .243... why even open the thread?

I have a set of H&R Ultra rifles, two SB2 frames in .243/.260 and 7mm-08/.308... they ain't going anywhere... ever... they are all in Sterling thumbhole stocks, DIY trigger jobs, dedicated bedded forends and they can all shoot... they also all fit into one double rifle case... zero POI shift on barrel swaps with a pre-tensioned QD knob.

Mid production era Model 700 in .243 Win. Bedded by previous owner but after that all stock. It is known as "Little Death" by the guys I deer hunt with. It sports a Bushnell 3200 Elite. Not fancy but a great deer rifle. Oh ya it is VERY accurate.

Darryl

At one time it was Darryl's current rifle.
The current one is a 700 SPS SS with a 1/4 inch rib of aluminum channel to stiffen the fore end.
Carries a 4200 4 - 16 and is the same rifle my grandson shot a 0.83 inch group at 300 yards.

That ring thing on the barrel is made by LimbSaver to dampen barrel vibrations.

Believe it or not, a Stevens200 in .243 under a Tasco 2.5X10 Mildot. Anything from gophers to deer out to 300yds. This one is deadly with this combo using handloads. I love it.

Not quite what your aking but ... I have a REM 700 TI in 7-08 that will be in my safe while my friends and family are at my funeral.

I have found that when a guy finds a short action sweet heart on or around .308 case that he prefers, albeit ...243, 6mm rem , 7-08 , .308 ... or anything around that capcity ... You will likely have to pry it from his cold dead hands.

I used to have a Vanguard S1 in .243 that was a pretty nice shooting rifle. Had to get rid of it though because it was taking up space and didn't get used. Not everyone has a use for a .243. I strictly hunt coyotes, gophers and other pests, and for that I own a .204 I'll likely never sell. If I ever feel the need to have something larger on my back it will be the Winchester 100 .308 I have tuned up nicely. That being said, a lot of these rifles are really nice! hmmmmm

A man can't own too many 243s, this is a cartridge that I fell in love with more than 40 years ago and have shot out barrels on 2 of them to date. And when I say shot out I don't mean 1500-2000 rounds I'm talking tens of thousands of rounds per rifle. Currently I have 3 or 4 so the same thing doesn't happen again, I rotate them now. None will leave my vault till I'm cold. I have an old Browning /Sako with beautiful wood, a Ruger RSI and my old Rem 700 (used to be a BDL) now it's a CDL, wearing a Vari-X III 3.5-10. Oh ya the fourth was a custom fluted barreled job on a 700 action done by Corelane, but I turned it into a 6mm-284. And I briefly had a 700 SPS, but it got donored to my 22-284. So 3 it is right now, not necessarily all that will be in the future.
243 is the best kick around small game rifle IMHO, they all shoot outstanding and are capable for deer and antelope, hell on wolves and coyotes, fantastic for gophers and badgers, pigeons, skunks....................and they are capable of reaching out to 500 mtrs quite niclely, when whichever furry critter thins it is safe. I shot thousands of jackrabbits on the Alberta prairies with my 243, standing, running, offhand, rested, off snowshoes....................that first 700 BDL 243 and prairie jacks contributed greatly to the level of proficiency that I have attained in shooting rifle. I never get tired of the 243 and have shot 400 rounds in a day.

I've got a couple, not sure what's staying or going.
Winchester Model 70 (mannlicher), Interarms Mk X (mannlicher), Ruger #1 RSI (see the theme here?), Voere custom, BSA HB Varmint, Remington 7600...

model 70 sporter-pushfeed was my first. Easy sub-minute with 70 gr. Sierras. I felt it was too heavy for a walking rifle.
Traded it for a Remington 7SS. Mistake, nothing but trouble.
Traded it for a Tikka 595 .222 OMG... a one hole rifle but did not feel it had enough poke for big 'yotes.
Acquired another older push feed model 70. Sticky bolt and only about 1.5 MOA
So, traded it for a T3SS .243
It is a laser. Point it and it does not miss. The guys at camp will not dispute the accuracy of that weapon! :)
So, should have kept my first .243 but finally found another.
The lesson I have learned is never sell/trade your best accurate rifle (unless you already have a replacement).

I have a Browning A-Bolt 243 that I couldn't part with. Not the best looking girl at the dance but she performs! It's counted for 10 yotes and 3 foxes since Boxing Day, mostly taken between 300 and 350 yards. I love this little rifle.
