What about a petition to make AR's non-restricted?

If they want to keep it restricted, but let us ATT anywhere we want and discharge anywhere we can discharge non-restricted, that's fine with me. The fact that it's singled out as restricted means it can't arbitrarily be turned into a prohibitied, it has to be singled out again before that can happen. That said, non-restricted would be preferred.

um... then it would not be restricted then would it... as that is kinda what restricted means.. as in "subject to restrictions"

I don't know why people are all bent about getting the AR re-classified

we should be focusing on ALL Classifications by Type

We can live with Classifications if we had to.. but Arbitrary classifications based on appearance is not acceptable..

We have standards for the classification of firearms .. is it too much to ask that they be adhered to? TO THE LETTER .. this alone would not require any legislative changes to the firearms act .. and could be done simply with an OIC, no committee, no 3rd reading.. but by simple regulatory changes by OIC

While im all for it, has a petition in recent history (say, 50 years) swayed politicians in Canada?

Im thinking not.

Actually the CPC dropped their digital copyright bill due to petitions and public outcry. They are also revamping their internet surveillance bill due to public outcry. Lots of examples of governments changing policy in the recent past. Will there be a big enough outcry to derestrict the AR? Doubtful. Only 10% of firearms license holders have an RPAL.

We need to get more people shooting hand guns and ARs!!! :ar15:

if it rains, the ground is wet. but if the ground is wet, it doesn't necessarily mean it's raining.

just saying, lol

I think the problem would be that we'd need a lot of signatories on the petition. So many people are unknowledgeable about firearms, and the current laws. We'd need a massive education campaign to win over the populace.
Also, I think a large part of the reason B.C. got the H.S.T. repealed was due to former(disgraced) Premier Bill Vander Zalm leading the fight, the media gave it so much attention.

:feedTroll: Airgun lover. pfft.

i have a norinco CQ. i've bought sold and traded more guns then you have seen. since i was 15 i have been shooting and belong to a gunclub and the OFAH. point your finger at yourself.

i think some guns need to be restricted.thats just the way it is. your lucky they are not prohib like 95% of all military rifles. semi-auto or not.
just be happy with what we have dont go looking for a fight. if you are to scared to get your Rpal and register your restricted gun then maybe your dont deserve one.

You know if your going to make comments like that erase all your noob questions from other places on the board

Hello

i was just wondering is it ok to shoot the gun with no choke installed? like leaveing the threads bare? or should you always have a tube installed to protect them?

don't claim to bought and traded more guns then someone has seen if your going to ask a noob question about a shotgun, makes you look well stupid.

As for gun being restricted there is no reason for the limitation of class of gun because of the looks or "SO CALLED" function, when many other guns with the same type of workings (eg semi auto) are allowed with out restrictions.

I own lots of restricted firearms, and I disagree. There should be one class: firearm. A semi auto rifle is no more dangerous than a pistol, bolt action, shotgun, or lever action. The danger is in the intent of the individual. Canada's most notorious spree killer, used a semi auto rifle that he buggered with, that only worked as a bolt action, needing him to manually chamber each round. If that doesn't prove the meaningless nature of our classifications, I don't know what does. You are entitled to your opinion, however ridiculous, and I won't jump on you for it, but I suspect many other will. Good luck removing foot from mouth.

i wrote the RCMP afew months ago and asked if it was ok for my mom(has no pal) to shoot one of my guns just to try it out. they said its perfictly fine.
i dont think there is any law against holding or shooting a gun

LOL, are you sure?

Haha care to explaine why you think it should be restricted? Do you work for the liberal government by any chance?

while i support your idea, wouldn't it be better to allow restricted firearms to be used for hunting and shooting outside of a range (basically getting rid of the need for an att)? i'd sell my swiss arms and buy a high end ar in a heartbeat if i could hunt with one.
this ^^^^

i guess this means u support Bill C-30 right?

i'm not saying our laws are correct. i'm just saying be happy that we have what we have. they are more likly to ban ARs then to give them less restriction.

every who knows guns knows there is really no diff between any gun in semi-auto in the same cal. its no diff to have a mini 14 or AR or HK33 or a browning bar. you can do allot more damage with a browning BAR in 300 mag then any .223. but do you really think our government is going to take the time to look over every gun in the world and change all our laws. not going to happen. look at the SPAS-12 is it better then a benelli m4? no but its still prohib and m4 is not?

just be happy with what we have. we beat the long gun registy. lets take a brake now.

Im sure glad our service people never had the same attitude as you. Oh we got vimy ridge now lets take a break.
We will take a break when we have laws that work.

Oh and brakes go on a car
