What auto shotgun do you think is best for home defence

I get where you come from but bow is not the worst time hypothesis. A couple of city in the USA are switching to minimal police presance and response like Cincinnati, I talked to a local RCMP officer a week and a half ago and he told me they had the directive to NOT pull over vehicles for minor infractions like speeding and such. I also talk to a friend who is a local police in a diffrent province and he told me they have the same directive not to arrest for minor offence like speeding just criminal offence.

Mine you we are just at the start of this...

Isaac initiated a review of essential Patrol functions and developed a Differential Response Plan with the Emergency Call Center (ECC) regarding calls for service in an effort to reduce unnecessary contact between officers and the public to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

Effective at 8:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 24, 2020, a temporary suspension of in-person officer response will be in effect for the below listed Calls for Service:

Range is all fine and dandy. How many train, being woken up from a dead sleep, trying to fumble to get something, barely can see, unknown whats really going on, can't find your other slipper. And if its loud enough to wake you up, dealing with a wife that may be screaming to what it is.

I'm pretty sure not many. If I shoot a shotgun from my stairs, I'm falling down them. They require 2 hands going down.
 
Semi auto: Benelli M4

My personnal choice: Rem 870 with a full stock, 14" barrel equipped with a weapon light and loaded with #4 buckshot (google, youtube and test it yourself) and a full 6 shot side saddle.


OkayShooter raises a good point as well. As it was mentionned in another recent home defense thread: prep your house in order to gain time. The more time it takes to gain entry, the more noise the attackers will make, the more ready you'll be to greet them.

Don't forget to call 9-1-1 at some point and don't pursue if the attackers flee like the cowards they are.

Had a home invasion when I was a sleep, plain and simple if he had a gun me and my wife would be dead. Didn't realize what was going on till he was looking at me through the bedroom door
 
Best auto response is my 180lb mastiff. Shes got better hearing and faster speed and unforgiving loyalty. But if i had to use a semi auto scattergun to back her up itd likely be a short barreled 1100. Beretta 1301 if i were to buy one specific for the task

Old school 870 Remington Express. I’ve dropped it in mud, water, dirt, pavement etc and it’s never skipped a beat in 30 years.

Hence the axiom: Train the same way that you think you will have to fight. What you do in training, you will do under pressure when your reptile brain kicks in.

Obviously, training with live ammo in your home is a no-no, but safely training with A Zoom snap caps should be.
