There was an article in Guns and Ammo magazine a looooong time ago that detailed the conversion of a #1 to .470NE; apparently once you get to that size of cartridge there are a few more modifications needed than just a barrel and an extractor, simply due to the physical size of the loaded cartridge. By-passing that and going to an even bigger .500+ caliber NE cartridge, IIRC, was an even more complicated procedure. Anybody done one of these?

Out of the suggestions of cartridges not used so far, starting to see a trend towards: .348 Win, 25-35, 388-06, 7x65R, 500 S&W & the 41 Mag.

I think to 2 other cartridges mentioned deserve consideration as well, the 7.62x54R & the 8x57.
