What do people think of the 7mm WSM?

That is a ridiculous comment.
.243 and .30-30 on "life support!"
Geez Louise...

Ask your local gun shop what ammo they sell the most of, or how often they sell a rifle chambered in .243 or 30-30.

I reiterate, that statement isn't based on my feelings about the cartridges.

I am basing this on outdoor retail sales... and what every gunshop I have ever been in carries. The .243 Win is still one of the best selling chamberings in new rifles, offered by pretty much every manufacturer in every platform that they offer... and with 9+ million M94's, not to mention all of the Marlin's etc... still in circulation and commonly used in the deer woods of NA, the .30-30 isn't going anywhere either... either you are 13 years old or have your head stuck in the sand to not know this... you can't possibly be a "gun person" if you are making this argument.

Can you find it on the shelf? Sure. Is there nearly as much 30-30 as there is .30-06, .270 or .308? Not even close. If memory serves, the local shops around here carry more 6.5 Creedmoor than they do 30-30. The reason for that is that 30-30 is vastly outsold by those other calibers. New shooters aren't buying lever guns and older shooters are representing an increasingly smaller slice of the shooting pie.

None of the CT's around here sell 6.5cm at all....lots of 30-30 however.
Even SAIL has as much 30-30 on the shelf as they have 6.5CM. Every major ammo maker makes 30-30, Hornady is the major 6.5CM maker, and until recently they were pretty much the only factory option.

or I spent this deer season selling ammo. I was honestly shocked at how little .243 and 30-30 I watched leave the shelf.

Every major ammo maker makes 6.5CM. I agree everyone else picking it up is a recent development, but do we have any reason to doubt it isn't a sign of things to come?

What "things" are there to come? 6.5 CM will be the only ammo available soon? It's like the 300 WSM was, it'll likely hang around but it's superstardom will fizzle when people realize it doesn't do anything new.

I was only referencing that with firearms in 6.5 Creedmoor being good sellers and more ammo manufacturers throwing their hat into the ring on the cartridge. It's likely to continue its growth rather than backslide.

Yeah, because those guys already bought there box of shells 10 years ago, still have a few moose to go haha. In all seriousness the 30-30 is way to established to go anywhere, and if anyone’s shooting more than the odd box of ammo they’re probably reloading for it. Probably no different than the 243 in those regards. Most, well all actually of the rifles I’ve seen chambered in 6.5 creednore are suited to higher volume target shooting, plus its new and shiny and performs good with excellent quality factory match ammo. Apples to oranges comparing a 150 yard hunting round to a LR target round. It’s like saying the silverado is obsolete and on the way out because a new corvette came out

I don't necessarily disagree with anything you're saying. But the reality is that if the ammo doesn't sell, it won't continue to be produced.
