As will I, SuperCub, just as soon as I get it. Just a couple of hours ago, I ordered exactly what you have, right down to the 26" option. How long have you had it? What do you think of it? Have you got any closer pics? Could I possibly have any more questions? Who knows?

12 gauge sxs 7/8s ounce of #7.5 shot or a 28 gauge o/u using 3/4 oz. of #7.5shot.

Grouse at not the same everywhere. Where I hunt predation comes mainly from the ground and the birds are skittish and hard flushing. Move further north and there is more pressure from the goshawks which tends to keep them on the ground making them easy pickings for a .22lr.

I here what you are saying 10X, and that is almost exactly the load I have used in the past 12 years or so in the western provinces. It works very well, especaily when I am in a hurry and wish to shoot through the twigs and branches to get Mr and Mrs Tasty. The 20 gauge just comes in a smaller, lighter package and not too far off 12 bore performance on little critters, which makes all day hunting on foot less tiresome.

if only hunting for grouse either a Stoeger coach gun in .410 with #4 or #5 shot, or an M6 scout in .22 hornet/.410.

if hunting for grouse but in case deer, moose or bear are available a pump in 12ga (slugs in my pocket) with cheap ammo#4 to #6 shot or a .300WM with a .32 cal insert depending on terrain.

This year I carried my IverJohnson single 12 with #2's, But just cuz my remm 1100 doesn't cycle 2 3/4 shells (like, at all), and is a little much to swing for chickens. But that's hunting with the dog. Most people here hunt the roads, so the .22 is the cat's knees for those days.

Funny though, when I lived in new brunswick we ALWAYS hunted grouse (and woodcock) over dogs. (And I was addicted) I never thought twice about it. When I moved to kapuskasing,ONT, the boys were talking about their 10-22's etc, for a grouse hunt. They said: "you got a .22?, wanna come?" I said, I'll come, but I have to use my shotgun. They laughed cuz with no dogs, they're shooting them in the trees and on the ground. "you figger you got enough gun there dan? I hear they're real territorial" nark nark. They'd never think of a dog + shotgun. ("What, so you stop the truck when you see a chicken, let the dog out while you load-up, and then send the dog in to raise the bird? sounds stupid!)
