What is everyone's go to coyote round?

the only way i see no pelt damage is usin solids of some discription ?

or a smaller cal like 22h with tnt , something thats ample yet not over kill per say

When I lived back east I used 65 gr. Hornady Vmax's in the 243. A good friend who was an avid coyote hunter and has shot away more coyotes than I ever did used a semi auto 22 mag. as all his shooting was 100 yds and under.

Most of the light .224s pushed fast don’t exit, same for the .204 and .17s.

yeah fair in 9 times out of 10 !
down under the 17 rem was THE pelt gun for FOX when they fetched $30 up to $40 a skin in the 70s!

im going to say that with my latest coyote sized dog down, the 7-08 with the 140gr woodleigh makes 2 big holes :D but does the job emphaticaly.

22 mag.
I never have shots more than 90yds in woods.
We selective harvest so the clearings are small.
I used to use 222 Rem
Very little damage with 22 mag

I use a 204 ruger with 40vmaxs at about 3600. 8 out of 10 will be perfect the other two will have big holes and it will be on me for putting it in the wrong spot.

Would like to try some 39g blitzkings if I could ever find some.

I picked up 8 boxes of this for $120 privately.
Retails for $65 to $90 a box, way to expensive, but notice ammo in general is now ridiculous.

thats Awesome.
care to elaborate?

mostly on which drugs an what materials? :D

Hey, it's just a piece of juniper I carved out and deer hide for the bow string. I was boring and used store bought arrows. The drug was peyote which is legal in Canada.

I just piled a bunch of branches and what not to make a blind. I've only taken shots at about 15 yards and probably wouldn't go any further than that.

variety is the spice of life for my coyote hunting

If I had to keep one it would be the 22 Creed. Just hammers coyotes and has plenty of juice for wolf too

When purposely hunting coyotes I have lmostly used a 222 since the late 60's , but also a .223 .
However when I see a coyote no matter what I am hunting with whatever I have. it turns into a coyote hunt!

Taken this week by a friend with a .204 Ruger and 32 gr bullet (I believe it was Sierra Blitz King). Dropped him promptly. Just shy of 76 lbs.

I popped one at like 40 yards with a 30-06 180grn. I tube skinned it and got it tanned and the resulting hole is big enough to put your fist through. Be warned if you want a nice hide.
