What is more fun to shoot 1911 vs glock or M&P 9?

Impossible to answer that question. "FUN" is an individual thing. What's fun to me may not be fun to you. I have a buddy that loves shooting .22lr, I'd rather shoot 45 or 44mag. It all fun I guess when your a gun nut.

I tried all 3 before i bought my first gun. The glock has never felt right to me. Ive fired a few of them and they never feel right to me and i cant shoot them well. The M&P felt better but again never felt right to me. Anytime i shoot these polymer pistols they feel cheap and bulky to me. When i started looking for my first handgun i liked the idea of polymer guns due weight, reliability, etc. But once i tried them, i found that they're just not for me.
The second I shot a 1911 i knew that this was the gun for me. I picked it up and it felt perfect and i shot 10 times better with it off the bat then i ever did with the glocks or M&ps.
I bought a lightly used Sti spartan in 9mm off the EE for the same price you'd pick up a glock for. For those that say 1911s are unreliable i completely disagree. Only failures i had on it were due to crappy ammo. Take that out and its been amazing reliable.
I went to a shooting course and the guys with glocks were having more failures than i was so i personally dont think a 1911 is any less reliable than a glock or M&p.

Its all personal choice but the 1911 fits me so nicely. You might also consider a CZ75.

However the Glock is fun to shoot, if you like the trigger of your barbecue lighter

Its funny 'cause its true. And for the record, I would add my vote for the 1911. You might also consider a Sig 226 or a Norc copy of one...I love mine, its got DA/SA, is very well made, and is cheap in a Norc.

Try out all 3 if you can. Is price going to be an option? You can get a Norc 1911 cheap but they can be expensive to feed. Between the Glock and M&P it is a matter of personal choice. I love how the M&P looks-could not shoot it worth a damn. The glock looks like the friend of the hot girl you are trying to talk to at the bar-but accurate as heck. Friends of mine would say the exact opposite. At the end of the day, whatever you are comfortable with should be the one. At least, get some time with each, you will find one will stand out. If not, buy all 3 and post pictures!

I currently have a M&P 9 and a GSG. The GSG is more enjoyable to shoot - easy to get a good group - but I like the kick of the 9, and the fact it actually requires technique. My best 3-shot with the 9 was a little over an inch (20 yards), but I can pretty easily put 5 or more into that with the GSG.

My first gun was a beretta 92, I then bought a Norinco 1911 and all I can say is I absolutely love the 1911 platform which is why I plan to buy a nice ruger 1911 soon. As said before its all personal preference. All 3 are extremely reliable, opposed to what the other poster said about 1911's not being reliable. There is a reason why the 1911 is still around today. I have shot a glock but never shop a M&P, the glock was fun to shoot but they are so plain and damm ugly looking.

My 1911 is fun to shoot. But it bites the web of my hand (GI style Colt, high grip) and so that part's not fun.

I really enjoy shooting Glocks. I don't know what it is, really. I like shooting my 1911 and Sig Sauers but when I pick up my Glock, I just love it.

I think it's because it's the gun I've lusted after since I was a kid and now that I'm a grown-up I can own one.

Can't comment about the 1911 or the S&W, but getting flicked in the testicles is more enjoyable than shooting the glock, YMMV though of course. I had high hopes for the gun.

statisticaly speaking and scientificaly proven, the glock is the funnest of the bunch
I concur.

The truth is everyone here is telling you the gun that they find is the best for them to shoot because it suits them. You're not them. They like one over the other because of how it fits and whether or not they are accurate with it.

My advice is get out and try as many different guns as you can. That being said I own two 1911 and three Glocks. What's tell ya? It should tell you that I haven't tried an M&P yet and when I do I'll probably buy one of those too!:bangHead:

First pistol "Fun Gun"
Gotta be a 1911 in 9mm
Norinco NP29, inexpensive to buy($410 taxed and shipped.) and shoot.
Accurate and reliable. Very good fit and finish.
For those who can't get into those too light and bulky plastics.

I love the Glock, as it's been said "workhorse". The M&P is much the same. for a 1911 platform, the first I bought was a GSG. I'd shot many different 1911's before in different calibers but I thought before I spend $1000 on a gun I'd better make sure I like it....really like it. You can't discern this by shooting a buddies gun once or twice. $400 and your into a GSG (you'll end up keeping it and it's cheap to shoot AND it's a 1911) then like me and many other's you'll be on the Ruger wait list :D

Glocks are like ### with your sister, yeah its ###, but doesn't the shame outweigh the benefits? Get a 1911, the ### is better AND you can brag about it to your friends.
