What is the coolest feature about the SKS

Interesting how the resounding answer seems to always come back to money.
Being low cost has nothing to do with why I enjoy the rifle and respect it's design.

where else can I get practice shooting a center fire .30 caliber bullet for 15 cents a shot? sks rocks, it's reliable, built like a tank, cheap and just works.

can't really fault it for what it is.

I really like the SKS rifle, have one of each year plus a few extra. They are reliable, a simple design that is easy to clean, lots of fun to shoot, and to me anyway, look great.

What a fun thread! Some good ones here I never thought of. I like the sticking the bayo in the ground to clean it. I put an earplug I the muzzle and pour water in the barrel. Then pull the ear plug, corrosive ammo is no problem.

If I had to add to this thread I'd have to say the SKS's do everything nature. Versatility on the cheap. It can be used as a decent hunting rifle with Fusion ammo, affordable target practice with Mil Surp ammo, it can be full out tacticalized for home security, it can be stored in its cosmoline with spam can ammo for when SHTF.

If you would pay $500 then you should be looking for a VZ52/57... far better rifle.

you are probably right, however if an sks was 500 then a vz52 would prob be 1000, lol, I just think for a couple of tanks of gas its a no brainer, someday they will be 500 and they will still be bought up I'm sure, enjoy the current price they were a quarter of what they are now, value to fun ratio is off the charts, especially considering the quality and reliability of the sks.
could very well be the best value in Canadian firearms complimented with a tok tt33.
