What is your honest opinion on Vortex optics?

QC can be spotty on the Viper and Diamondback series, and I'd avoid the Crossfire scopes if possible, but generally they're a good buy, and warranty is excellent if there is an issue. I've had excellent results with the Razor HD series of scopes, haven't had any issues with the Viper and Viper PST series, and have several friends who have run them for years without issue.

 
I think they're great value. Are they THE BEST - no. Are they good value - I vote yes.

I don't think the Razors are good value, since they are in NF and S&B range, but not quite as good.

I know some hate them, and maybe I will too if one fails me.

I have:

VIPER PST 6-24x50 FFP MRAD EBR-1
VIPER PST 2.5-10x32 FFP MRAD
VIPER PST 1-4 MRAD (X2)
Ranger 1000 LRF

I had and sold a Strikefire and a VMX-3 magnifier.

Quite honestly I would not be able to put that many optics on that many rifles without buying vortex.

All of my optics ave even and accurate adjustments, They track perfectly, and their reticle seems to be accurate and matched the turret adjustments.

I had one RMA where I dropped my 2.5-10 and bent the turret... Vortex repaired it free of charge, and it zeroed and tracks properly since the repair.

Great warranty.
Safe bet and good value for money.

I could not be happier.

I have 3x of their scopes, 2x of which get used a lot.

HS 2.5-10x44 on a .308 Rem 700 that I hunt with. About 400x rounds and 3x deer seasons with it. No problems so far, does pretty well in low light conditions, no reason (yet ;)) to upgrade.

PST 1-4 which I've used fairly hard for about 3 years/5k rounds on an AR15. It's served me well for what I paid, but I'm about to upgrade.

I'd say they are alright for what they cost, I'd prefer if they were all about 20% less expensive.
 
Vortex has been around for what? about 10 years or so. Not saying that's either good or bad I just personally prefer a brand name that has a little more history behind it.

If they are around for another 10 or 15 and I live that long maybe I'll look at them, but for now they are still on my "pass" list.
 
Second year of using a 4-16 PST FFP hunting coyotes and deer on foot and it bouncing around on front rack of ATV.

I think the glass is good and with good clarity. FFP is nice and habit forming and the mrad comeups are accurate and repeatable.
The power ring is tighter/firmer than my other Leupys and Bushnells. Vortex zero stop is ok.

I have used it on a .223 semi and on a .308 as a recoil reference, with no issue. Longest optic usage was target shooting @ 400m

I like the USO's and NF's glass better but not when I have to pay for them.
 
I have had 3 and they all preformed as advertised. Clear glass and great warranty service from what i have heard, However I have sold them all so I'm not sure if that counts for anything but I prefer the higher end of things.
 
I have two Crossfire II's. Both are great, hold zero, easy to adjust, lots of features, and the warranty!. Wish my crossfire II's had an AO though. I will purchase Vortex again.

Yesterday I compared a vortex diamond back against a ziess tera3x a Leupold Canadian and a Bushnell elite all in 2-7 range. Vortex was by far the worst of the bunch. While the Leupold was more money it was the best of the bunch. The ziess wouldn't fit my gun
I've had 2 vortex scopes. Both failed on my 458 wm with just starting loads. Their warranty is good but I'd rather not have to worry when it's going to fail
 
I have two SPARC, both Gen 1. They've been good for 1000s of rounds through my ARs.

Vortex has great customer service, and sent spare screws free of charge when I lost some.
