What is your most recent hunting rig purchase.

More of a parts purchase then rifle purchase I suppose. A 7 saum on a deviant action and 22” IBI carbon, and a nice chunk of Turkish walnut. Almost ready for some finish on it.

Nice, real nice!! Usually you see that kind of built fitted to some sort of composite or chassis stocks! But that in a beautiful wooden stock looks good!

Agreed, I like the contrast of the carbon barrel and wood stock. Please share the finished rifle.

I will do :), I’m hoping to have some finish on it in a week or two. Roughly 220’ish hours into it so far, the end will be a great feeling. Iv been playing with a few finishes, Iv been steeping some Alkanet root in Danish oil (amongst others), the Danish has been looking pretty nice on my test pieces.

Thanks a bunch :). This rifle does have a AG composite stock as well, but I much prefer walnut so figured I’d build a stock for it. This is actually my second build, I have another that’s almost finished (defiance/benchmark), but it’s not a recent purchase so I didn’t post it up in here lol.

Fan of that one as well, pretty rifle and great chambering.

Roughly 220’ish hours into it so far.

I make stocks as well, people will often ask how much to make one. I say 3500-5500, but for the money you’re much better off to hire Ron Martini. The time if you put a low wage on it even is immense. None of it particularly hard, but consuming.

I had been looking at and lusting after the Miroku Winchester rifles for a while now. I'm really impressed with their fit and overall quality. Much better than those manufactured after 64 IMO. The actions are snug but smooth as silk. The walnut stocks on even the base models are decent. I know it's old school but my go to deer rifle has mostly been my model 94 30-30 - a pre-64 beauty. To get to the point I have been watching Elwood Epps webpage and recently when I saw they had in stock a Model 94 Short Rifle in 30-30 I bit the bullet.

You've just sent pre-64 gurus into epileptic shock my friend,
I have 2 Mirokus in 44 mag and 30-30
Superb Quality. Imho you will find they increase in value better then pre-64s.
The age of leverguns is going away I think. I hope not.
When they stop making these great rifles these will triple.
In fact, I'd say they are the best ever produced. Yes I have pre-64s.
Enjoy.

The .25-35 was, and probably still is, big medicine on Island deer...and elk. You'll like what you find. It's definitely an itch that should be scratched. Another cartridge that punches well above its weight class.

I have a CZ 550 lux in 243win on its way.
My 452lux is the nicest off hand shooting gun I have ever had.
Hoping this is the same feel.
