What Shotgun did you shoot your FIRST bird with? and do you still have it?

Gadwall with a Winchester 140 Ranger 12ga. Didn't care for the taste of duck after a few tryies so I sold the gun, moved onto upland game with 16 guages. Much better.

A Cooey single shot .410 - I think it's the model 810, but not sure. And no, I don't have it any more:(:(

Come to think of it, it may have been my Dad's Mossy bolt-action .410. But at age 10, I did have the Cooey, and I could go out hunting with it. My dad wouldn't let me go out alone with a .22 until I was 12 or 13, because he said people tend to think of a .22 as a toy, and they are dangerous a long ways. A few times, we would meet a cop or CO when out hunting alone, and we'd get a good talking to, being warned that if we shot up transformers or insulators, or signs, they'd haul our asses off to jail. That was it, and they'd wish us good luck. Can you imagine a cop seeing a 10-year old alone in the bush with a shotgun today. The parents would spend a good stint in jail and bye-bye rectal virginity. Odd thing, too - none of us grew up to be criminals, shot our spouses, or even had accidents. Go figger.

Winchester 2200 12 gauge on a red winged blackbird. (huntable in Ontario, before anyone calls the fuzz)
This is a pic of one that was shot with my 20 gauge uplander later that day, think my buddy shot it.

Still have both guns, this was a few weeks ago. :D

I was 8 years old, was my first ruffed grouse, and it was a single shot 20 gauge (I want to say Ivory Johnson but I could be wrong, was a long time ago). It has long since been sold for parts when it would no longer reliably shoot.

Other than that I may have shot a crow (in season) with an air rifle...

Your memory's pretty good. Ivor Johnson is a make.

Drake Woodie with a CIL (made in Brazil) 16 Gauge single shot purchased from Canadian Tire. Took it home on the school bus in 1972.

Sadly, I no longer have that gun.

First shotgun.

I was blessed with a Browning B/SS 20Ga shotgun for X-mas when i turned was 13.
My best friends dad took us to Goodland Kansas pheasant hunting.
I still have the gun althought the bird is long gone...LOL!
I will hand this one down to my boy.

Stevens Model 58C bolt action mag-fed .410 took my first chicken. Still got it, its so light that it would be a great gun to teach kids or women who need something a little smaller to start off with. Plan on giving it to my kids some day.

Remington 1100 3" magnum 30 inch barrel(first firearm I bought with my own money),got a triple on mallards 2 drakes and one hen in my three shots(I was just as suprised as you are :D)and the gun many shells later still shoots like dream and when she opens up ducks rain from the sky :)
