First bought and paid for with my own cash was a Win Model 70 in 30-06, got it in the fall of 1976 and still have it. Really like it, seen a lot of action over the years.

First rifle I hunted with was a 30-30. The first rifle I got to call my own was in 308. Its easily a 60 year old rifle now.

First one was given to me time as a Christmas present , a Ranger .22 , then a sportized .303 Enfield ,again given to me at Christmas , from my Mom and Dad when I was about 11 -12 years old , still have them , and Many More since :) First one I bought was a new Husqvarna Crown Grade in .270 in 1959 , with a Bushnell Scope Chief 4 X with command post, still have it . Been on many hunting trips , and packed on pack horses , helicopers pontoons ( Prospecting Trips ) and over my shoulder , it still looks like new , except for a few dings . ----- and still a tack driver .

Not on the list , very first one I worked for that wasn't given to me was a stainless ruger m77 paddle stock in 338 win with a leupold vx 11c silver 3-9. I was in grade 9.
That scope made develop a hate for leupold and have not bought another since.
Sold the gun once by mistake to a family member, bought it back and upgraded the scope.
Also manage to find the kit to change the noisey permanent sling swivels to normal swivel studs.

Definitely seems like .303 British is one of the more popular calibers for the new hunters of yesteryear. I only started hunting just under a decade ago and it was my first centerfite cartridge gun and the first I reloaded for. It's a dang good all around cartridge and gun. Especially a No4 Mk1 with peep sight and a 10 round magazine.

I took my first Muley with a borrowed 303 and Dominion Ammo.
