What Was Your First Handgun and Do You Still Have It?

Too funny G. My first was a 686 2.5" round butt from Alan Lever himself in 1986. Living in Ontario, I had to physically put my FAC in an envelope and mail it to him for verification and he would include it inside the pistol box with the completed transaction.

I still have it.......and the 12.6 that goes with it. <Grin>

I feel for you my friend! Funny that we both got 6" L frames around the same time!

Ha. Looks like a few of us cut our teeth on the L frames at the same time.

Not too many of those 2.5" L frames around, P7. Very neat that you still have it. At that time, Lever had just about every conceivable model and variant of Smith, Ruger and Colt, not to mention a number of other interesting items like some of the first CZ75s to make it over.

Definitely brings back memories guys. I really wanted a tiny 2 tone S&W Semi, Single stack 9mm hammerless DAO but couldn’t afford it as a student. Kept going back and Allan would let me hold it. Forgot what the model was now. DAO guns were just coming out then and I thought they were a fad! LOL!

I bought two within days of each other back in the early 80's - can't remember which was first. A Stainless 357 King Cobra and a Series 70 1911 45 ACP. Sold the Cobra last year and haven't used the colt for 25 years. Will probably trade it on a Glock or something that I will use!

One did come from Allan at Lever Arms - great guy to deal with!

mine was and is still my first and fav, is a CZ 75B, love that thing, also have a pair of glock 9mm g34`s, gonna dump one though and get something else, cause a matched set is pointless, have bought a bunch of 0thers but the glock and CZ always will stick around

my first hg was a ruger single 6 convertable 22...22mag 9 inch bbl....139dollars ..1968 i was 17..long time....after afew years sent it on trade for a mod 41 sw....good move....i still shoot it..... the 41 is a 22 if you dont know..its how you spell accuracy.....

Mine was a Smith & Wesson .38 Victory model, that I got from Lever Arms from Alan Lever as well , --- got a permit to carry for prospecting . I still got it , and I had a permit to carry for Prospecting all my life , stating at 18 years old, until about two years ago , as I got out of the Mining Game due to TOO Much BS from the government, -- also a S - Ruger Blackhawk .44 mag. from Alan again, as well as a Colt Lawman in .357 with a 2 inch barrel , that I bought from a Good RCMP member , that used to carry it when he was working undercover, that I carryed as well -------and Still got them all . And No Plans on getting rid of them !! ---

My first hand gun is one that today I can't be trusted to own ..... a Beretta 1934 3 3/8" barrel. I kick myself from time to time for selling it. Second gun Browning High power all matching with 2 mags and holster. Made in Belgium WW2 era. Kicking myself again just writing this!

NP28. God that thing was big. Lasted 6 months then I tried a NP22. That didn't work for me either.

.... a G20 for wilderness carry ..... It also didn’t help the Glock that one day I had to dump 7 rounds of 10mm into a charging grizzly and it eventually ran off like it had been stung by a bee. After that I sold the Glock.......

Odd. Your pissed at your Glock 20 for saving your life?
I would wager that bear felt a little more than a STING>>>>?
Where would you be today if you didn't have that Glock 20.
I believe this is a pure example of why many carry a Glock 20 in the bush.
Have you since tested your .460 six shooter?
I think you should thank the Glock Lords...

My first handgun was a Ruger MkII bull barrel target pistol...a really great gun. It had the 'Manufactured in the 200th Year of American Liberty' rollstamped on the barrel. After a number of years I sold it, stupidly thinking I needed the money, and regretted it for a long time. Several years ago I bought another one and enjoyed it for a while, but discovered that I preferred to shoot my S&W M&P22 and my Sig .22 conversion more. So I sold it to a work pal. This time, no regrets.
