I really hope they don't chase you away from guns too, the Bovine Excrement is getting deep round these parts.
 
When i got back into shooting as an adult, I bought a handful at the same time.
But, I believe the 1st one I purchased was an M&P 40. It's taken some 'rubbing' to make it handy, but I've still got it and it still sends the most lead 'downrange' at my club.
 
My first handgun was a FEG P9R which I bought from a friend in 1992. Beautiful gun, possibly a knock off of a HI Power, but I believe it was some what more complicated. Mags held 16 rounds of 9mm before they were plugged. Still got it and I still love it.
 
I don't have my first handgun... but that's only because I just bought it!

The transfer should be finished tomorrow and I'll be going in to pick it up. I'll take a picture while I'm cleaning it.

I believe this is a pure example of why many carry a Glock 20 in the bush.

I don’t get pissed at guns or other inanimate objects. I actually liked the Glock (not as much as my Colt Delta Elite though) but found out that the 10mm round was inadequate in grizzly country. Not much more to it than that.

As for the 460 5 shooter luckily I never had to test it on a bear. After another close call with a grizzly I realized if I ever had to shoot it without hearing protection I would probably go deaf so I switched to a 5” 629 for bush carry.

It's a great thing that you had the 10mm with you in the bush that day.
If your ever in the same position again, the 44 magnum should make a bear think twice after a shot or two.
 
Great Grand-dads 1892 New Navy .41 Long Colt. I was a proud 17 year old, sad that his Grand-father had passed but proud that he left it to me. For the first time since 1935 the gun is now not registered as a gun. Antique status as of March 2018. It will go to one of my sons eventually.

i picked up 3 when i got my restricted back in the early 90's
a Ruger P89 and a Herbert Schmidt 6 shooter and a Smith and Wesson 422.

the ruger i love because i put some much time into it over the years and it is a Ambi pistol which was super nice for me being a left handed shooter.
the H/S spits lead which kinda freaks me out but it is solid and it was sooooooo cheap, it cost me $70.
the S&W 422 has been a trooper, its super light and is super accurate and has been flawless in function all these years, my kids learned how to shoot pistols with it now so its gone through 2 generations which is great for the $200 investment!

I bought a S & W 422 ( my cousin had one and had at least 30k rounds through it. I knew it was reliable as hell so I bought one also) still have it 15 yrs later. My favorite .22lr pistol.
 
First Handgun....

Mine was a S&W Model 10 .38 Spl with 4" heavy barrel. Would be a 'prohib' now. Long gone now.

Later when 12(6) came about I was still in "the club" with other(s) in the category, though.
