Mine was a Mosin Nagant M44. I went to SIR in Winnipeg in 2002 and they had some Romanian M44's on the rack. They were pretty beat up looking. I saw one that looked a little better, and said I'll take it. Just then, a fellow walked out from the back and I recognized him. It was Frank and he had just taught me the restricted firearms course about two weeks previous. He said hello and asked what I was buying. I showed him and he barked at the kid behind the counter "Go in the back and get one of those nice ones"

Kid went to the back and came back 45 seconds later with a brand spanking new Polish M44 Nagant. Still had brown paper covering the mag floorplate and some cosmolene in the barrel. She was a beauty.

Cost was $79.99 and I was hooked.

Let's hear your stories and how you got hooked. Lets be honest, nobody just buys one milsurp. They seem to multiply when put in a safe.:d

Lee Enfield for $29.99 at Sears for my Christmas present in the early seventies. Sold it and have always regretted it.
Pride of my fleet now, is a K 98.

No 4 MK I* when I was 12 years old, plus 100 rounds of ball from International Firearms in Montreal all for $75 shipped. Then a p.08 Luger when I was 18.

This was taken several years ago.

First centerfire rifle I bought is the 1916 no1 mk3* made at enfield in this picture . Guy at work had it and sold it to me for 100 with 150 brass, 50 or so rounds and a spare magazine.

Next was the sks, then the ross mk3, turk mauser and the 1943 longbranch that waz regulated by AG Parker. Only took like 2 months to buy all that!!

Faz No4Mk2 1954 PF series, long gone now, but my Long Branch No4Mk1*. MyDad bought for me on my 21st birthday, 28 years later still have it.
