What was your first Milsurp?

M1D Garand. First rifle of many now. April 2009. Before that, I just owned a semi shotgun for duck/goose/deer hunting. I got bit hard and am now on here basically every day looking for things on my list and just interesting stuff that pops up from time to time.

SKS which unfortunately I didn't learn about corrosive ammo until after I shot it the first time (not completely my fault, as no one in the recent family had ever used corrosive ammo either).

Memories... My wife was teaching in Thompson MB while I finished up grad school in Thunder Bay in the mid 80's. We used to meet every couple of months in Winnipeg. One day I was prowling a surplus store in downtown Winnipeg while she was at a teachers workshop. I walked out with a Lithgow 303 SMLE and long blade bayonet for about $125.

When I got back to the Lakehead, i was showing it to a buddy of mine from high school who was going to school there and knew nothing about firearms. I clipped the bayonet on the end of it and took the sheath off of it. He jumped up with the rifle from the couch and put the bayonet through the drywall ceiling of my apartment living room...:runaway: f:P: I am sure the landlord wondered what the hell happened when I moved out!

We didnt call him "Speedy" in high school for nothing...

My first purchase I went crazy and bought 3 rifles from accuracy plus. A mosin 91/30, no4 mk 2 and a k98 for $850. I discovered their history much later and to my surprise the mosin turned out to be an ex sniper. Still have it and the Enfield. Swapped my k98 to an all matching example.

My first was a 43' fazakerley No4 MK1 and all I have to say is the saying guns are like potato chips, you can never have just one is so true. Especially in the case of milsurps.

P38 I bought from the instructor of my handgun course for me back in 2006.
Now into my 4th longbranch sniper and my 3rd brit sniper :)
