What was the very first rifle you ever bought?
Not that was given or inhertited.

Mine was a Remington Model 788 in .243winchester.
I sold it a year later because I had horrible trouble with the magazine!
Lol! Bought two of them since, and had trouble with those magazines as well! Lol! Slow learner I guess!

Come on guys, what were your first rifles?

lee enfield no 4, mk1 sporterized - 15 dollars at the time- and it's long gone- my grandad made me trade it for an ithica pos 49r, which is also long gone- too much gun for a kid-

Remington 572 pump .22 S,L,and LR. Took me a couple years to save enough as a teenager. Still have it, still a tackdriver.:)

My first rifle was a Marlin 39a Golden although I wanted the Mountie. That one I traded.
The first shotgun was a Remington 870 which I still have but during one of my moves, the original barrel was "Misplaced".
The first rifle was a Remington 700 in .30-06 bought in 1965. I still have it but this spring replaced the barrel.
A little like grandfather's axe - 2 new heads and on its tenth handle but it is still "Grandfather's Axe"!

The first rifle I bought with my own hard earned money was a second hand Savage Model 99F in 300 Savage. I shot my first deer with it and hunted a few years more with it. I foolishly traded on another rifle ( I don't remember the caliber or model) and have regretted it until last year when I found another. I'm going deer hunting with it this year.

Late 1940's Winchester Model 69A 22LR that my father bought new and gave me several years ago. Of course I still have it.

first rimfire - 10/22 still killing hundreds of gophers a year.
first centrefire - 1898 LEC (Lee Enfield Cavalry Carbine). Sported before I got it. Only centrefire I had for 10 years or so, bought it when I was 16, still use it when open sights are the requirement.

I see a trend here of people who need to learn how to read ;)

Indeed... The first rifle I purchased was a CZ-452 Silhouette; Or as I like to call her, The Black Beauty.

I still own it and hope to hand it down to my kid(s) one day.

In 1979 I purchased a new Browning .22 lever action. Its fired a mountain of ammo and the only repair its ever had was a new firing pin 2 years ago. Its never had a misfire regardless of ammunition, and its outlived several 10/22 rugers. I use it every spring for gopher clearance. Still looks like almost new condition.

first rifle i bought was a #4 mark 1 enfeild
shotgun was a 20 ga bolt traded them this year for a savage axis .30-06. took that out to the range very nice shooting.
