what was your Longest kill shot

Longest shot.

In over 25 years and 40+ deer, longest shot was 225 yards on a Whitetail in Manitoba 10 years ago. I've hunted from NB through to BC and avearage distance likely under 100 yards. That being said I have missed a few "gaggers" that were likely farther!(damn, damn). I like them so close you can see the steam coming off them.

one shot kills or are we allowed follow up shots ??

one shot kills would be a moose at 200m, 300wm full penetration, went 20' and layed down dead

I've shot criters at longer distances but always had a follow up shot even though the first shot was a fatal shot.

This past hunting season I killed an antelope buck with a 240 Weatherby using an 85 grain Nosler Partition. The buck dropped stone dead! The bullet struck him in the front part of the chest and exited his rear area. Great cartridge the 240 Weatherby!!!

Mulie doe @ about 300 yards with my Savage 243 shooting a 100 grain Hornady Interlock. She was out in a field and the herd was starting to move off, so closer wasn't an option.
I held a little high from a kneeling position. She stumbled a few steps and went down- said bullet having gone through one rib, messed up heart and lungs, and through another rib on the way out.

My longest shot was 400m, with a Remington 700 sendero special .270 from the prone position w/bipod on a mule doe.

Store bought outta the box Remington core locked 150 grain for ammo.

6 tenths of a klick. Many years ago on my dads farm. Back when shooting from a vehicle on your own land was legal under the agriculture act for pest control before I get flamed. ( Coyote ) truck stoped window for a rest and my dad yapping in my ear that I would never hit it at that range. 6mm-284
Remington 700 shooting 70 grain Nosler Balistic Tips over 52 grains of H4831.

Right through the lungs, he went about tree feet straight up and came down in a pile. He was far enough away that i recovered from the recoil and watched the hit on 20 power. Dad said I missed I said bulls**t and I know it was 6 tenth of a klick cause we drove right to where I said it was laying.

Second best shot was a gopher, same rifle off a bipod in the prone position,
483 paces. Oh yeah it was a bit windy so it took 3 shots to zero him.

Hmmm. I believe a coyote at a little over 600yds. Tango Kilo was there.
My Antelope would be second. Around 540yds.
I've shot a couple more past 400, and will again if I have to.
Under 200 is good too.
Tripled on Mule Does 2009 @260, 290, and 310. That was a treat. Shot my two whitetail does an hour later. Yearling at 425 and then the wet doe with her on the run at 150yds. It was a goo evening and the family needed the meat.

about 275 yards with my dads old POS 30.30 bolt action open sights, 3rd shot, runnung 4 pointer. Call it luck, but it was about 1 hour left of the season, I was 18yrs old and had missed an 8 pointer earlier that day at 40 yards with the same rifle. It took one side of his cap off. Tried the rifle at 100 yards the next day and couldn't get better than a 12" group at 100yards. Guess that was why my dad had a silly grin when he saw me with that rifle. Since then, I use rifles that can shoot a better grouping and always sight in before hunting. Lesson learned but I was one luckey kid.

I shot a 5x6 bull elk at 410 yards off hand, jumped out of the truck as we came into the field, He flew out of the bush then slowed down broadside and I got him while he was trotting away.

Oh and I was using a Ruger M77 7mm remington mag, factory ammo :D

Moose at 360 yards. Couldn't get closer, there was this pesky river in the way......

For rimfire, I popped a magpie sitting on a fence post with my .17hmr last spring that was close to 300yards. I'm the first to admit it was a lucky shot.
