What weapon have you been successful with

Only 22LR and 22WMR for me. Unknown amount gophers and 2 badgers

What weapons, I use firearms. Weapons are used with intent to injure people

I don't own weapons.

weap·on
ˈwepən/Submit
noun
a thing designed or used for inflicting bodily harm or physical damage.
"nuclear weapons"
a means of gaining an advantage or defending oneself in a conflict or contest.
"resignation threats had long been a weapon in his armory"

So when talking about hunting, the item used to harvest an animal would be a weapon at that point, if we go by the definition. The OP is right, most of us just choose other words to make our ownership of such devices less scary to the general public.

I've killed more grouse with a baseball sized rock than i can shake a stick at.
Seriously, before I was worried about the cost of a CF round I would use any handy dandy rock and take out a chicken.
then invested in the sling shot and ball bearings.
Now i just bust a cap if I left the shot gun at home or in the truck.

The list of calibres in my cupboard that I havent harvested anything with is quite long as it seems the opprtunity never presents itself when I have that rifle with me...ie have never seen a deer when I have my 30-30 or 44 mag eith me.

Maybe somebody can explain the political correctness and denial in referring to your firearms as "weapons"?

The Criminal Code of Canada defines our firearms as "weapons" and that, in the eyes of Canadian law, is what Canadian gun owners all own. I really don't see what point is served in denying the obvious. Canadian gun owners own weapons. Period. Own up, accept reality.

Embrace the fact that you are a trusted, law-abiding owner and user of weapons.

We take legal responsibility for owning and using weapons for sport and recreation. Why not simply call it for what it is?

A buddy who teaches the PAL course told me "we don't like to call them weapons. They're "firearms"".
I call bullsh*t. There is no shortage of ways to run afoul of the law with your firearm. If and when you do, it will be made clear in no uncertain terms that your firearm is a weapon in the eyes of the law and for all practical purposes.

Here goes a fun question: what weapon have you successfully taken game with?

My list:

.22lr Single shot, 12 gauge pump, 12 gauge side by side, .50 cal muzzle loader, .177 air rifle, sling shot, stick bow, compound bow, 300 win mag bolt action, 30.06 bolt action, 30.06 semiauto,

Large game with 12 gauge slug, buckshot, black powder, centre fire and bow, guess I am missing the cross bow

Weapons are used by soldiers, police and criminals. Firearms are used by hunters sportsmen and target shooters. Learn the difference!

Weapon: a device used to kill, injure (can be bow a bow, knife, rock, car, rifle, grenade, etc)
Firearm: A device that projects a projectile with gun powder (can only be rifle, pistol, recoiless rifle, howitzer

hence my question "what weapon have you successfully taken game with" I guess if the word weapon offend people I could have used "what lethal device or what thing a ma bob" because if you look at my list it includes bow and sling shot which are not by definition a firearm!

Some people get worked up about the word weapon, even though it's in common use in Hunting vernacular.

I'm just fine with the term and fine with people owning weapons.

Call them what you like, but under the Criminal Code of Canada all firearms are considered to be "weapons".

For me, this is the only definition that matters:

http://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/acts/C-46/page-1.html

Criminal Code

R.S.C., 1985, c. C-46

An Act respecting the Criminal Law

Short Title
Marginal note:Short title

1 This Act may be cited as the Criminal Code.

R.S., c. C-34, s. 1.
Interpretation
Marginal note:Definitions

2 In this Act,

weapon means any thing used, designed to be used or intended for use

(a) in causing death or injury to any person, or

(b) for the purpose of threatening or intimidating any person

and, without restricting the generality of the foregoing, includes a firearm...

I can't see how it helps the cause of the responsible firearms community to cling to the notion that Buddy's .303 or .308 or 12 gauge shouldn't be considered a weapon. I respect the fact that Buddy is a responsible guy, but the fact that he is responsible with his weapons is a reason to trust him, not fear him.

English is a very precise language. It's all about perceptions.
