That's it so far.......here's to a good and safe moose/deer hunt to us all. Good luck

A lot of fear out there to use the word weapon, firearms are weapons, they where designed to kill

Doesn't mater what they were designed for . It's what you do with them.
Cars were not designed to kill & they are not weapons unless you use it as one

A weapon is any object used to inflict bodily harm or damage. If you use a gun/firearm or any object to hunt than it is a weapon as the primary goal is to kill your prey i.e. inflict fatal bodily harm and/or damage to the animal. Even if you only use your guns for decorative purposes or inanimate target shooting they are still considered weapons as section 2 of the Canadian Criminal Code defines a firearm as follows:

firearm - means a barrelled weapon from which any shot, bullet or other projectile can be discharged and that is capable of causing serious bodily injury or death to a person, and includes any frame or receiver of such a barrelled weapon and anything that can be adapted for use as a firearm;

All firearms in Canada are legally by default considered weapons regardless of how they are used.

Im not ashamed to call a gun a weapon seeing as most of my guns are surplus guns, some of which were built in war time years. So whether it has shot two or four legged quarry I won't shy away from the word weapon. Own it, as that's what it is. Call it a gun, tool, weapon whatever, its all of those things.
Just don't kid yourself it isn't, because that's stupid.

Labeling a sporting arm a .....cawf.............cawf..........cawfcawf.......weapon is raycist...................:sok2.................f:P:2:

One of my favourite hunting rifles started out as military rifle.

Like millions of its brethren, its heart and soul is that of a WWII infantryman's battlefield weapon.

Wouldn't want to give it a "complex" by denying its martial roots.

Like many here, I’ve forgotten, doesn’t mean a list would fill a page or my experience is so deep it can’t fit on a floppy disk, but I’ve lost track, or at least the will to try. I do have favourites, have tried from 9mm Luger in a carbine to .505 Gibbs on game and only ever shoot 7x57, .308 and .375 H&H for rifles lately, 12g for birds. Likely .308 is being retired only because it’s the same damn thing as 7x57. Have used clients’ rifles guiding in 7mm Rem and .300 Win last few years a few times. Not a terribly exciting answer.

I'll try to remember the list I have taken game with...

.177 air rifle and pistol spring and pneumatic and CO2, .22 air rifle pneumatic and CO2, .17HMR bolt action, .22 RF S,L,LR in semi auto, pump, bolt, lever, single shot break action, combination gun and revolver, .22 magnum RF bolt and lever and combination gun, .22 hornet bolt, and single shot break action, .222 Remington bolt and combination O/U, .22-250 falling block, .243 bolt and lever, .250 savage bolt and lever, .257 Roberts bolt, 25-06 bolt, 7mm08 bolt, 7x57 bolt and falling block, 7x57R combination gun and drilling, 7x64 bolt, .30-30 single shot break action, .308 win bolt, lever, and combination gun, 30-06 bolt, .303 bolt, 8x57IS bolt, .38 special lever and combination gun, .357 magnum lever, and combination gun, .357 max combination gun, .356 Win lever, .35 Whelen bolt and falling block, .375H&H bolt, .410 shotgun pump, SxS and O/U, .45 muzzle loader, .45-70 falling block, .50 muzzle loader, 20 ga. pump, O/U, SxS, and semtauto, 16 ga pump, drilling, O/U SxS and combination gun, 12 ga pump, semi auto, SxS and O/U and combination gun and 12 ga muzzle loader.
