What weapon will you be big game hunting with this year?

Unfortunately nothing now that I've got a new hernia and the only operating time I can get is during my wmus season.

Hernia repair sucks. You can't do anything but find a comfortable position in the recliner, and burn through every season of "Breaking Bad" that Netflix has to offer. That was 2010 AND 2011 (I collected the whole set).

I'm hoping the Knight DISC 209 .50 will see the light of day, but as I am returning to Alberta deep into rifle season, I will probably just break out the Abolt Medallion .300wm. My bowtech won't even have the dust blown off it.

ZG-47 in 8 x 64, alternate with a 98 in 9.3 x 57, 16ga SxS Sauer for upland. Two of my kids will be using 8 x 57's, one a Husqvarna, the other a VZ-24, the third a 21H in 7 x 57. Oldest uses a 12ga o/u, while the other two use old Cooey 20's. These guys own 12ga pumps, but always revert to the 20ga shotguns. Go figure.

On rainy days a model 70 Extreme Weather in 300wsm (165 ttsx's @ 3150)
In the canoe banging around moose hunting a Marlin XL-7 in 30-06 ( 180 speer deep curls@ 2675)
Think I'll leave the 9.3x62 in the safe this year along with the others.

A Remington 700 Mountain in 257 Roberts
Mine went yesterday for the pre-game warm-up. Same results every year.

Weapon .................Nice.

I prefer to use the term firearm......or gun.

I was going to post "hey Gatehouse" it's hunting, not going to war. I'll be using a firearm, but I just won't know which one until the morning of the hunting day. But, Looky beat me to it! A pre-guess would be my Browning Micro Medallion in 7mm-08, I just love her to death!

Edit: my Micro Medallion and BLR in 257 Roberts are now strong in the running.

He's trolling. Not that I blame him as I do the same on occasion as well.

I didn't take Gatehouse as a troller, but now that you mention it..............;)
I call for an infraction, trolling isn't allowed, is it? I got nailed for "baiting" once! I think trolling is the same, isn't it?:p

Rifle Season for deer: Depending on the watch I draw, either my Winchester 94 in 30-30 with a Red Dot, or my Ruger Mk11 in 280 Rem with 2 x 9 Bushnell Scope for reaching out there.

Archery for Deer and Moose: If it is freezing cold, my Excalibur Exocet. If it is nice out, my Mathews Hyper-lite compound.

Moose: Ruger Mk11 in 280 Rem

For my first-ever antelope, a .270 Vanguard.

For deer, something different each day. After decades in an Ontario shotgun zone, this will be wonderful!

I know how you feel except I only suffered a two year sentence, I paroled early. Good luck on your prairie goat hunt :D

Thanks! Two years?? In my case it was 4 decades of shotgunning deer. Last year was my first deer season in Manitoba...so nice to stand in front of the gun safe each evening and go "Hmmmmm....which one for tomorrow?" :)

Gatehouse... If we are conversing, please feel free to use the word "weapon" interchangeably with "gun" or "firearm..." For that matter, I won't mind if you refer to a magazine as a "clip" either...

For moose, deer and bear I will be using a Hoyt compound bow... Grouse and hare plinking with various LR's... Squirrels with a couple HM2 rifles, Wingshooting with 20 and 28 gauge 1100's... Waterfowling with a 12 gauge Browning Silver Lightning... Coyotes with a .22 BR Remington... Turkeys with an 870 Super Mag...
