What weapon will you be big game hunting with this year?

Gatehouse... If we are conversing, please feel free to use the word "weapon" interchangeably with "gun" or "firearm..." For that matter, I won't mind if you refer to a magazine as a "clip" either...

Just got home from camp, was out looking for moose the hunt starts in a couple of weeks, will be taking .300 savage and the 7x57.Then for deer will be old trusty 340 savage .30-.30.

I'll be starting with the muzzle loader. Then in rifle season, likely a Rem700 in 300WM I recently picked up or my original gen1 Rem700 Ti in 308 Win.

For moose, deer and bear I will be using a Hoyt compound bow... Grouse and hare plinking with various LR's... Squirrels with a couple HM2 rifles, Wingshooting with 20 and 28 gauge 1100's... Waterfowling with a 12 gauge Browning Silver Lightning... Coyotes with a .22 BR Remington... Turkeys with an 870 Super Mag...

I will probably continue to use the term "magazine" to describe a detachable magazine, as I generally prefer to use proper terminology. Which is why when I posted this thread I used the proper term to describe rifles, shotguns, bows, muzzleloaders, crossbows and spears.

Incidently, this forum is called hunting and sporting ARMS. Anyone who has looked at a dictionary or even been paying attention to history would know that ARMS are defined as WEAPONS.

;)

Getting to be a habit taking the 88 and '94 for moose. They have to go again this year, as I've not had time to play with anything else. I think next year I'll take the Ross if I can get it shooting to point of aim instead of a foot high.
Deer.. I took the same two rifles last year, Hmm, I do have a Savage 220 to play with, might just take that for a change.

This year for deer I am trying a 6mm SLR I dialed in a new barrel in the lathe yesterday and plan on chambering it one night this week.

I have hunted with a 308 for the past 10 years or so and it has worked great but this year I wanted a change.

weap·on##
/ˈwepən/
Noun
A thing designed or used for inflicting bodily harm or physical damage.

yup use the correct term FIREARM only police, military and criminals use WEAPONS

All of my hunting rifles were bought and meant to be used as weapons.

Model 700 parts gun .243 AI
kimber Montana .270 WSM

Savage 111 package gun with Leopuld VX1 upgrade, shooting factory Federal premium 165 gr tsx in .300WM.

I get teased a lot about my ugly gun, until we go to the range!

I don't have any weapons, I only own sporting goods. If you're asking what sporting rifle i might be using, it would be something in the .30 cal family for big game.

I don't think beating deer to death with 9 irons and tenis racquette's is very "sporting." One shot from any of my "weapons" dispatches them humanely.
