Whats the hardest kicking gun you ever fired?

I have to put a vote in for a lightweight custom 378 Weatherby Mag that an acquaintance had built for him many years ago. After the second shot, I refused to touch off another. I found the recoil to be not only hard, but very fast. Sore shoulder for 3-4 days after. I do not consider myself recoil-sensitive, but that cannon would make me so. Regards, Eagleye.

Now I would have to say 3 inch slugs off the bench. Back when I first started shooting when I was about 8 or so years old, was an old 16 gauge single shot shotgun with no recoil pad on it. My father had to help me to hang on to it.

My friend's father in law's N.5 jungle and 3"slugs from the bench with the folding stock "m37 tactical". Sledgehammer would be a better name for the latter...:D

Through a series of miscommunictions with a barrel maker, and a very light stock made for a 6.5 lb .358 STA. lethal on both ends. With top loads, seldom would you get away without bleeding somewhere. What a pig!!!! But with mercury surpressers in the stock, weighting the forend for balance,9 rounds in a shell holder and a heavy bipod on the front,it's a lot more user friendly now.
Took alot of rounds before I didn't whimper and flinch every time it went bang:) :)

Can I have two?
1/ 500 S&W, factory original, 440gr cast GC bullets, 38grs H 110 loads. 1654 f/sec.
2/ 10ga Mag. double, 3.5" 2.25oz loads, both barrels discharging at the same time. I still feel that one!!

Same like Cooey 16 ga single , my dad bought it for me when i was 12 yrs old, still is the hardest kickin SOB, in later years my dad told me to give it to my oldest son, i told him i loved him too much for that but son was witness to dad's request- so- i gave it to him -he was 12 yrs also.
Altho i warned him he had to try it-- knocked him back, he shook his head & after I asked if it hurt, gritttd his teeth & had at'er, same thing after second round, after third rnd I asked if it hurt & he responded Noope, offered himt fourth rnd a he said He JUST didn't feel like shooting it anymore-(was BORING)!! LOL
He was bloodbruised from his ear to shoulder tip & down to his waist-- but it didn't hurt--little ####!! LOL
My dad & older brother got PO"d when we were hunting as I shot from the Hip(too painful to shoulder);) & was actually deady accurate
GREAT OLD Times:redface: __ Can't be brought back;)

.45-70 Ruger #3 carbine shooting 405 grs @ 2300 fps = OUCH, I would gladly shoot 3" slugs off a bench all day than shoot a box out of the # 3!!

6LB Single shot 12ga that had been cut down for a kid, 2 3/4" 1oz magnum slug

One of my school buddies who had a bit of a mean streak in him had one of these.

His favourite joke was to go shooting with newbies. He'd shoot that cutdown 12 ga loaded with 7 1/2's one handed. Then he'd ask the newb if he wanted to try it. Of course, being guys they'd say yes. Then he'd load it with a 3" slug.

One guy had to get stitches in the forehead. But since there was never any concussions or permanent injuries I have to admit I used to laugh along with the others.

It is a Boito single shot that weighs 6lbs.

Sorry about the confusion.

I initially removed 2" from the end of the barrel to get rid of the full choke, in an effort to make it into a 'slug gun'. It shot 4' low at 50yds after that. So I then put it back into the safe and kind of forgot about it.
When my son turned 10, he wanted to shoot so much, I took in and had the stock cut back to fit him. I reload, so he learned to shoot clay pigeons (and real ones here at the farm) with light 7/8oz loads.
I had some slugs, so I took her out last fall to see why it shot so poorly before. Like I said, once was enough, I never even checked where it hit.
Works real good for snap shooting grouse in close quarters in the bush up here. With the open barrel choke, you have to shoot quick, the pattern is about 4' at 25yds.

Will post some pics later if you guys want.

When i was about 14yrs old out hunting rabbits with a short barelled side by side 12ga with double hammers and triggers on a cold day with gloves, accidentaly fired both barrels at same time, learned never to put two fingers in the trigger guard,,,,,, the hard way.
