Whats the hardest kicking gun you ever fired?

I shot a .338 Win Mag today, hardest one I have shot so far, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, might have a bit of a bruise tommorrow, but that could be my fault for flinching a little on the first few rounds.

Yea HEMI ran into me at the range today just when I was wrapping up and he fired my old faithful Remington M-700 .338WM. Some Federal 250gr Nosler factory stuff.
I fired 5 through the Chrony just for info not too long before HEMI arrived: 2541, 2494, 2504, 2532 & 2480 = avg. 2510 fps...

Anyway after HEMI fired a few off the bench he shot the rifle offhand and busted a rock twice in a row at 100 yards. If it had been a deer, bear, moose etc... it woulda been dead X's 2!

FYI that is a modest 37 ft/lbs recoil (using the recoil calculator) www.realguns.com

Compared to the Lott (76 ft/lbs) I was shooting it's a damn pussycat.

Old Mule

A WWII .50 cal bolt action tank buster rifle , got the chance to fire this at a fire power demo in Arkansas. I tip the scales at 200 lbs and this thing moved back 4-5" while in the prone position. Slight challenge in retaining a sight picture on target.

my 45/70 with 500 gr cast bullets at about 1900fps.. After shooting a box from the bench I was blue shouldered for about two weeks

84mm Carl Gustav, anti tank weapon...

Ok, its not a rifle, but it had a hell of a back blast area... but a a couple of grand a shot, you only get to fire it once.

Just did it on Sunday morning @ Phoenix.

Here's one of my targets, the holes left from the .500 are cirlced in red heh.

Have a look at this PICTURE.

Cool video ...but....My ex g/f fired the same pistol at phoenix and just loved it. When she touched off the first round she looked at me and smiled, the second round she danced a little jig after and wanted more. Its not really that bad you just have to hang on to it thats all..I'm sure i still have pics of her doing it,and it was funnier then crap to see bout a dozen guys lined up at the ob windows because they didnt believe she would do it.
After the first shot they were amazed and after the second their jaws dropped that she wanted more...she was not a big girl but she loves recoil and her all time favourite was the 50AE for its muzzle blast and concussion:p
Oh well she is not here anymore but at least i didnt spend $2200.00 on a 50 that she would call her own right now...

8 gauge shotgun. 5 inch shell loaded with a healthy load of lead number 4 shot. Grandfather said they used to mount it on the front of the boat to shoot Eider ducks. He says sometimes they could get 40 -50 birds per shot @100 yds.

My dad's single shot CIL 12 gauge with plastic but plate, think I was 15. Trying a bit of farm boy trap shooting with my friends. Shot about 100 rounds before I said enough. Bruise only lasted a week. Still have the gun.

im pretty much new at this gun thing not to menchen im young,(this is going to sound like i fired a pea shooter to the lot of you but) so the hardest gun ive would prolly be the my 20 gauge shotgun. i shot that a couple of years ago and as far as i can remember its be the hardest gun ive ever shot.

Ethan

PS: it still wasn't very hard though.

my cousins single shot bakal 12 gauge with foster slug dont know if its the most kick but it hurt the most
more than my uncles 10 gauge

recoil

.300 Ultra mag in a Remington 700 I had built when cartridge first came out. Absolutely brutal in my opinion and I've owned .375 and .458's. Biggest rifle I now own is a .338 700 Remington and its more pleasant to shoot than that damn .300 which I sold after 15 rounds!

Hehehe, here's Icehunter after shooting a stout .458 (and AGAIN, same day, shooting the 416 rigby):

And here's Grizz, after trying out the 416:

A friend at work has a 45-120, apperantly the load using 300 grain bullets was uncomfortable but manageable....however 6 shots using a 600 grain bullet put him in the hospital overnight with a concussion. The recoil shoved him back so hard it caused his brain to smack the inside of his scull causing the concussion. He tells me all this then asks me if I wanna go to the range with him and try it???:p

Just fired a 460 nitro EX double with a steel but plate. Its way up there with a 460 weatherby that had been the hardest kicker I had fired.I would say a bit more punch.

willy, what sort of rifle did he have chambered to 45-120?
A ruger #1?
They must've been REALLY hot loads or that rifle is light.
Please tell me he wasn't silly enough to have a H&R Handirifle rechambered to that cal.........:(
It would be kinda cool.
600 grains would put down a T-Rex!:D
