What's the most useless caliber

So .505 Gibbs (.505" ), 500 Nitro ( .510" ), 500 Jeffery ( .510" ), 50-90/50-100/50-110 Sharps ( .512" ), and many, many, many other of the original big bores are useless for hunting? What a joke that comment was.

What are you scared of that you need to pack this sort of allotment in North America?
Hell, most would do well with a sling shot or a can or two of bear spray.

 Ok, I just found where this one originated on this thread. Friend, you are entitled to your opinion, in fact your opinion is encouraged in these forums but you really should do some research before you react to something and embarrass yourself. The M1 Garand was and is a 30-06, or .30 cal as it was called in WWII. The M14 that you posted the picture of has never left service in the US and it is a .308, or 7.62X51 NATO if you wish. There is a ton of info out there on the reason why we went to the 5.56, or .223 if you wish, but it never cost anyone a war. :onCrack:

What would take this from a great thread to an awesome thread is the personal experience that you have which lead you to disliking a particular round. Personally MY biggest reason for not liking a certain caliber is the cost. I am not in a position to start reloading yet but when I am, I expect that I will need more room in my safe :D

Good for having a George Bush Moment -

But my point is .223 is not enough gun - Biggs

No such thing as a useless caliber or rifle.
I tried for five days to hunt with a common axe now that was useless but fun HAA_HAA!

Anything that is ridiculously overrbore (where's that point? I'm not sure). I laugh so hard when i see guys shooting 2x the powder and getting 2-300fps more. Whats the point! Dead is dead. I understand the need for some of the magnums such as the 7mm RM, 300Wm but once you get into the RUm/ Lazzeroni/Wby stuff efficiency goes way down and price, recoil and barrel wear go WAY up. No thanx! In my opinion that can all go in the garbage! Let the flaming begin!

IMHO it's all about freedom of choice. In our increasingly regulatory society this is one sore point with myself.
Just use it safely whatever you choose, is my motto.
Don't slag mine & I will not slag yours.

PS: And no, I personally don't own a uber flat shooting, over bore magnum rifle.
