What's wrong with my RCBS scale?

He did start out by trying to weigh bullets without ever zeroing the scale?
Yeah he did.......but at least he had the smarts to realise something was wrong before starting to weigh powder loads.

I picked up the same scale at Chilliwack. I can zero it, but the adjusting leg is is extended almost as far as it can go. There is also something that rattles around in the pan. If I removed some shot from the pan, could I lower the adjusting leg or does it work the other way around. I cleaned the bearings and looked at them with a microscope and they look fine.

Makes sense to me. I tested the shot idea and less shot makes the problem worse.
