The screwdriver has to fit, absolutely. The screwdriver has to be used properly, absolutely. The screwdriver has to be parallel ground, absolutely not.
The screw that holds the floorplate on a boxlock shotgun educated me really well. A tapered blade won't "propeller" like a parallel ground thin blade. Anything over .030", parallel works fine. Under .020", not so much.
