I have a Steyr model L fullstock in .308 with double set triggers that prints 1 ragged hole @ 100 yrds. hammer forged twist style barrel, rotary det. mag. I wouldn't look any further for a rifle .

I am surprised that so many people like the Sako Bavarian, but none have mentioned the Sako Classic. To me the Classic is much nicer, or the new Classic Deluxe...

I totally agree, I had a Bavaria in 30-06 and the stock didn't fit me quite as well as I thought it would.

I love the look of that one, but personally I woul dbe looking for a nice used AV the cartridge I wanted, maybe even with a laminated stock if weight is desired.

Sako Barvarian. A colleague purchased a .300 Win Mag for himself & a .30'06 Springfield for his son in preparation for a Yukon Moose hunt. I helped them with extensive target practice sessions. The .30'06 grouped 1" @ 200yds and the .300 produced somewhat more open groups,(2"), but still acceptable. Perhaps not a high end rifle but it does cost a pretty penny to most of us anyway and in my experience worth it. Oh yes, 2 bull moose were brought back from their Yukon hunt 1) 380yds---.300 WM 2) 15yd charging---.30'06.
If I had money tell you what I'd do
go downtown buy a Barvarian or two............Ripoff of a song by David Lindley.

Well the Krieghoff double rifle in .500 Nitro doesn't come in at $3500 I'm afraid, so I'm going to have to beg off here as nothing else from Euro empresses me, I'd rather put my money into American made guns such as a new Shiloh or C. Sharps, or CPA, or maybe a custom levergun in .500 S&W, or Dakota model #10.

I like the old european browning mauser rifles. The old finish sako rifles. The sauer 202 rifle and 202 hunter 308 hvy bbl rifles.

I am a big fan of the older Steyr-Mannlichers too, but I prefer the Luxus model with the thin steel vertical stacked detachable magazine.

Too bad, because the Best guns in the world come from the old country's:nest:

like a couple of others here - I have a Steyr Mannlicher 72 carbine with the non-detachable rotary in 30-06 that is always with me.

I may have a long range cannon with me as well, but that little rifle just keeps shooting into the same place year in and year out. No adjustments, smooth, quick and points so well.

It may be overtaking the 300 weath as my main game getter now..

358 norma mag it's a full length rifle but it's nicely balanced and a pleasure to shoot

:)Nice, very nice and I like the caliber. A little different from mine, a model 1651 Husqvarna, also in 358 Norma Magnum.

I'm still hoping to eventually get the 358 NM in a Schultz & Larsen.

choices

Although I do own quite a number of CZ's, my favorite hunting rifle is my Steyr Pro Hunter, mine is in 6.5x55. I new a fellow that had one in 300 and this fella could really shoot, said it was the most accurate factory rifle he had ever owned. FS

I made an offer today for a brand new Sauer 90 in 300 Win Mag. I read a lot about this rifle and I'd be happy with one. I'll update you guys if the deal work out good.
