I am thinking of buying a press from them. How's the service? The price is fairly lower than what I found here...

I have ordered from them 6 times....... So far we are 1 for 6 (having the stuff I wanted in stock)

The one time they had the stuff I wanted in stock..... I got a .40 HP mag instead of a Buckmark Mag and the target tree I ordered was missing parts.

So I call them and tell them the mag I got is not the one I wanted, and the one I got is worth $20 more than the one I ordered. I also tell them my target tree didn't come with assembly instructions, and there are less pieces than the pics on the box show......

Their response was "You pay to ship it back..... and If we have it in stock We MAY ship you the right stuff....... If we don't have the stuff in stock we will refund your purchase price, less shipping, and if we FEEL there is nothing wrong with the stuff you send back, there will be a 25% re-stocking fee.......

Bull Sh**T says I..... I kept the mag (traded it off at the local g-store) and useda piece of scrap metal to fix my target tree......

I will never order from them again.......

I REALLY hope you have a better experiance than I did.......
It definatly couldn't be worse!

I ordered a Remington 700 from them. It arrived in bad shape, look like it had been dropped and lots of rub marks. Turns out it was there floor model. When I complained they told me they would give me a $180 credit. I accepted the damaged rifle (as I was going to be taking it out in the bush anyways), and took the $180 credit.
The next time I placed an order they told me there was no credit on file.

I will never order anything through them again, piss poor service!

wholesale service

I've ordered 3 rifles, 1 shotgun, 1 scope and a jacket from the Saskatoon store. 1 rifle and the scope showed up, and the jacket took 8 months to come from Calgary, which was in stock when they ordered it for me. I can't say much for their service if you have to order in anything, but in store, the staff is pretty friendly and good regarding any returns I've brought back. I've heard the Cabelas (former SIR) now charges duty on their items as they come from the U.S. I haven't ordered from them, but my cousin got some binoculars and a Lead Sled which he had to pay duty on:( Take your chances Wholesale, but be prepared to wait awhile if you order a rifle if it shows at all....

I've gotten a Lee Press from them. Although they are out of stock for almost everything 9mm related, the staff were helpful in finding alternatives and they have ordered some stuff for me.

Did you try to order 9mm dies from them? I just placed an order I guess I should phone and see if I am wasting my time. :puke:

I wouldn't mail order from them and I wouldn't take anything they say over the phone as gospel, I will go there and buy what i need if they have it in stock. I wouldn't ask for advice, although a couple of guys in S'toon know there stuff.

If they have it in stock, it's painless and good...Just get them to ship via mail. More reliable.

If they are out of stock, don't expect them to remember you ordered it...

No. I just borrowed dies from a friend waiting for them to naturally replenish their stock. I figure they'll need to replenish their 9mm stock sooner or later and I've got something to work with in the meantime.

I have dealt there for many years.

If they have items in stock they ship promptly.

If the items are not in stock they always phone and explain the options -bring it in from another store/warehouse, back-order or cancel.

Nothing I haven't encountered with practically every other mailorder company over the years.

Cabelas, SIR, Brownells etc. same issues - if they don't have it they can't ship it.

I have purchased from their store in Kamloops. Very good service - reasonable selection of products.

If you want to order from them I would recommend phoning in your order. That way you will get a better picture of what they have on hand.

Duty?

Well...I don't want to hijack the thread but this has me wondering.

I have ordered several items from Cabelas/SIR since the takeover and I haven't encountered this situation.

Remember, if ordering from a website, that there is a difference between Cabelas.com and Cabelas.ca. Order from .com -US- and you may have to pay border fees. If you order from .ca -Canada- there are no extra fees.

Now on with our regularly scheduled programming:evil:

Over the last couple of years I've purchased from them, in separate orders:

- 2 rifles
- 1 shotgun
- 1 rifle scope
- 1 tripod
- 2 magazines

In all cases I called first to make sure it was in stock. The items arrived about a week later.

Once I inquired about a rifle that wasn't in stock. They said they'd check the other locations and call me back. They did, the next day. Another time I ordered a rifle case. They called the next day to inform me of the higher than expected shipping cost (PO oversize charge.) I cancelled that one.

The search function on their web page is almost completely useless, but my experience in dealing over the phone has been very satisfactory.

I've bought a Rem 700 rifle, ammo (rifle and pistol), cleaning accessories, and mag pouches from them.

I never phone them anymore - staff knowledge is variable.

Prices are decent, but TSE is competitive. TSE was selling the R700 I bought for about $60 less that WSS (stupid Ranger... I never thought to call...)

IMHO: worth a stop if you want to browse, but I would not phone them.

(I cannot comment on their mail-order service)

Like others have said if they have it in stock they are pretty good and fast. I once ordered some spare magazines for my Beretta 87T and they took almost 8 months for me to get them but it was explained to me when I ordered them and I didn't have to pay for them in advance. The only time I shopped at a WSS in person was at the Kamloops store and it wasn't a good experience. I called two days before I was going to pass through Kamloops and asked them to put a few kegs of powder and 5000 small and large pistol primers aside for me. I was willing to prepay but was told that it wasn't necessary and that they had lots of stock. After a 3 hour detour to get to the store I was told they didn't have stock in the 'large' containers but I could buy the powder in the 1 lb container and the primer by the 100 lot which would've cost much more. I passed. Do I still shop at WSS? Not as much as before but I will peruse their website as part of my research prior to buying and will order if it is in stock.

I ordered a couple holsters from them three weeks ago. I haven't heard anything from them, or seen any charges on my CC. Usually within a week they phone to say they don't have what I ordered in stock.
