Who is buying a Type81?

Those hand guards look like refurbed surplus. A lot of the wood has that heat-stressed look to it from heavy firing.

Where is this image coming from? Not to be overly blunt, but anyone can can photoshop the TI logo onto a pic they found on the web of a bunch of crates of surplus hand guards and upload it to imgur (which is where the image above links to).

Lay off the conspiracy crack dude. These look new to me, just not confirmation that OUR Canadian spec rifles are being made. It's easy to take photos of pre-made parts to pass off as ours. Show us our 18.5" barrels on receivers.

It's a screen shot from TI's instagram.

Link?

No conspiracy. There's just been so much random myth and misinformation around these guns, I'd like to see more specific confirmation than a random IMGUR image from a non-TI account.

I have a crapton of milsurps, those hand guards do not look new to me. But it depends on the wood. Russian arctic-birch looks heat stressed from the get go. The Catalpa wood in Chinese SKS's has a much more blonde look to it. They used Catalpa in their Type 56 rifles (the Chinese AK variant) as well. Just not sure what wood is being used here. Over time and use, Catalpa can darken considerably.

Why no update on their dealer page here on CGN. Seems strange. I would think that updates posted on CGN would reach more than on Fakebook, most of the buyers would be here I would think. But what do I know! I'm not on Fakebook.

A pic of boxes of handguards and gas piston covers (tubes) in Chinese surplus crates is not "tactical imports making" anything. It's a picture of a part that isn't regulated and could very well be used on a full auto version as a semi auto version.

It's a picture. With no explanation or back ground. It means nothing.

Why are they still keeping people's money for the pre-order when they legitimately have no ####ing idea when/or if/or how many of these are ever going to get made and sent here?
Honestly at this point they should just say "yeah we really #### the bed on this one, here's your money back and you are still on the pre-order list, no worries"
Kind of prickish to keep stringing you guys along while hanging on to all your money this long.

Wow. Some serious butt-hurt on here.

As for the original question... maybe. I'm not too excited about it. I might buy a type-81. As for a pre-order? Never.

I have already chosen an AK "type" N-R rifle in 7.62x39. The Vz58. Which is lighter, has a fast cycle rate, reliable (can be finicky with certain ammo) and most of all, proven quite accurate for it's intended purpose. Plus it's Czech... because, you know. It's like if Schmeisser, Walther, Simonov, and Kalshinokov made a baby.

They are keeping people's money because people aren't asking for it back. And the import won't happen without it. As much as they deny it.

Want your money back, ask for it.

Speaking as someone who has a pre-order in, they are not returning people's money and people are not asking for it back because 1) They are, as far as anyone knows, still on track for the July production. 2) There is no indication of any kind that delivery will be delayed.

Exactly! JULY PRODUCTION! ....... I guarantee that the price will jump to around 1500$ if you don't got your pre order and most ppl will still purchase for that price.......im not looking at it as having 1180$ locked into a pre order I look at it as saving about 400$

No other importers have orders in place for them - no evidence to support that claim. indeed, the July production run will be enough to fill the TI order and that's it. If you don't have a pre-order in place, you are not getting a Type 81 unless someone who does sells theirs on the EE. TI made it very clear that this July production run will be it for the foreseeable future. The factory will be tooling up for the new rifles being produced in CHina.
