Who is buying a Type81?

If AK mags fit, they won't function the bolt hold open unless they are of a design that pushes up and engages the mechanism inside the type 81. Depends on the design of the AK mag.

Some AK mags might work, some may not. The design of AK mags varies from country to country.

Thanks for the explanation. So far every AK47 mag I've seen in x39 has always seemed pretty much the same (Chinese, Russian, etc), but as long as these main contenders fit in the mag well and feed, all should be good. Last shot bolt hold open is a bit of a redundant/overstated feature anyway. I like to count them as I squeeze them off, lol.

I have 8 mags coming with my rifle already...I might make an even 10...that should be enough considering I probably won't shoot the type 81 as often as some of my other guns...it's nice to hear that they may be ready to ship by the end of July, that means production will start soon if not already...could get it out on the range before winter...that's what I was hoping for last year...

81 mags are cheaper than AK.

They seem generally reluctant to post updates as frequently as they could but I guess it's as simple as emailing them yourself. I hope that trip to China gets us some sweet photos of the finished product. I can't/won't decide on fixed vs. folding until then.

$200 made in China cheese grater quad rail... probably find the exact same one on ali-baba for $40 shipped.
Most US AR15 aluminum ff handguards are around $200 from actual reputable companies lol.
 
So all in all we still cannot scope the t81 right? We don need no hand guard. We need an actual receiver rail system that works with this rifle. Wait , it has a stamped receiver....

Don't worry. Once it lands in country you'll have you choice of aftermarket mounts in about a years time.
